The Fullerton Deluxe models, though, don't seem like all that much of a bargain to me. I mean, optioned out, they're not much different than the option order basses and you only get a gig bag. I was pricing out SB-1s a and SB-2s lately and, other than the build wait time, just didn't see too much value upside with the FD models. Back when they had a Fullerton Standard that was around $1k with a bag and the Deluxes were about $1200 with a case, it made more sense. But $1700 with a bag… nah.

they prices have jumped a lot. They were $1499 just 2-3 months ago. $1599 about a month ago, and it appears they just jumped again to $1699 on the latest batch.

Same with everything else these days, I guess. I just put an order in earlier this month for a new SB-2T, glad to get it in before the prices jump. I don't mind the wait (I say that now, haha).

What a beautiful bass! Very unique.

A couple years ago I bought a 2007 Fullerton SB-2 on Reverb. When I got it, the neck had a bad ski-jump problem and the truss rod had bottomed out. I contacted the seller about returning it, but he offered to pay half the repair costs if I'd keep the bass. Since he'd originally given me a very good deal, I agreed. I took it to my luthier, who worked it over and got it playing well, but that didn't last, so I eventually had G&L replace the neck with one of the new ones with the dual-action truss rod, and it's been no problem at all. Necks often have a rough time here in the desert, but this new one has been as solid as a rock and gave this bass a new lease on life.

I had to look this up, but I found I originally paid $675 plus $50 shipping for the bass. I'm not sure what the price of a new neck is these days, so it'd be best if you contacted Memo Romero at G&L about that. I'd hate to give you some bad info. His email address is [email protected]. Or better yet, call him at (714) 897-6766. I've found that that's often a better way to get him. Maybe even doing both would be best of all. He stays extremely busy.

Hi all. Not a member of the club yet, but watching the "clearance rack" at the G&L store regularly. That said, figured this would be a good place to ask, to anyone that has purchased from the b-stock how has the experience been? I'm definitely in at the price points I've seen and ok with a little cosmetic damage. Some of the pics though, it's difficult to really see what you're getting. So i guess what I'm really asking is when you got your prize in hand, was it better than you thought it would be? Worse? Exactly as described? Would it be better to pony up the extra couple hundred $$ to just buy new? I'm looking specifically at the SB-2 and the Kiloton Tribute series. Thanks in advance for any insight.

The B-stocks I've seen on the G&L store and Reverb have been pretty clean, and crazy good prices. If you're not particular about options, that's the way to go.

Thanks for the input! Pretty sure this is how I will acquire my first G&L, but I thought it would be prudent to ask some folks who might know the ins and outs first.

I have bought 3 basses from that site. All 3 were fine except for the cosmetic damage that they had described, with one minor exception...I bought a JB-2 from there that had a minor electrical issue that wasn't mentioned. When I lowered the volume on the bridge pickup, it wouldn't turn off all the way. I could still hear it through my amp. It was a simple fix--the pot for that pickup just needed to be grounded. They probably never even knew about it. If you're looking for a Kiloton or SB-2, be patient. In my experience, they have mostly LB-100s, JBs, and JB-2s. If you're patient, it should pay off.

I snagged a lefty Tribute L-2000 a few months ago as a B-stock for a price a couldn't pass on. (Thanks @Jim C !)
The only info offered was light scratches and the weight, a fairly hefty 9.7lbs
I couldn't really find any scratches that would make this B-stock.
The frets are a little uneven, resulting in an annoying buzz at the D strings first fret. But overall it's still very playable, considering how low I set up my basses.
Aside from the weight, and minor playability issues, it was a great buy at $300.
