had to bail on the lb-100, photo client canceled and i couldn't get the scratch from my gf, ugh, it's still available and the guy is really nice, check LA craigslist, search viking blue under musical instruments

I sincerely thank all who have posted mods for our G&L basses here. I've made occasional posts mentioning these mods but now I've got them more organized for you all.
In the spirit of artistic expression, I want to share with you all the extensive mods on my bass after 11 months of saving up money and doing a heck of a lot of research. The single MFD L-1505 was the perfect platform for me to dial in with these mods. I did not consider any other non G&L bass a worthy candidate for these mods.
I bought this L-1505 brand new in 2011. Upon picking it up with a separate MFD at the dealer I took it straight to my tech with a list of the following mods for him to do:
1) add second MFD
2) bridge ground from bassesbyleo
3) bridge attachment from bassesbyleo
4) football jack from bassesbyleo
5) remove and replace all stock G&L wiring, pots, switches and circuits etc. 100% passive operation. Only the bridge ground wire is original.
6) 3 position Gibson style pickup selector switch
7) Stellartone ToneStyler - here: Invalid Link Removed
8) copper shielding
9) hipshot extender key
10) tone bypass switch
11) smaller knobs
12) treble bleed cap
13) the MFDs are wired for humbucking/series only Ive found single coil and or parallel to be weak sounding by comparison
*There is one mod I did by myself
: I attached the strap with 1.5 stainless steal round head Phillips screws. I just despise straplocks and all variants. Instead of washers I used 2 1970s Mexican Peso coins (with the serrated edge-got that idea from Billy Gibbons) one coin and screw for each end of the strap. This strap stays on the bass.
I use both pickups most of the time - very, very, very full tone. The neck pickup when soloed is very useful- smooth and deep tone (very clear because it's MFD). The bridge pickup when soloed - is pretty good. I thoroughly tested a L-2500 before embarking on this and I much prefer what I've got now. It's still got the unmistakeable G&L tone character.
I did not do any of the above work. I used to but now I'd rather save up (took me a while) and pay somebody. This bass still had the hang tags on the same day I took it in to the tech. :lol: I got it back 2 weeks later and have not had any problems at all with the work. I planned and saved for an extra long time months before the day I picked it up after the mods were complete so I was plenty ready for the delayed gratification. Let me tell you all, it was worth it. It sound very muscular, clear, warm and round. I get a fair amount of compliments on the tone of this bass.
This is my L-1505 after all the mods. Its for work, it's not a real looker please excuse the washed out photo. It's swamp ash with a satin finish, ebony board and light tinted gloss. Now, I'll keep it for life.

Interesting. I'd be very curious to hear some A/B sound clips comparing it to an L2500 and a stock L1505

The G&L is simply a lure to bring in innocent bass players.
Picked it up my new MJ-4 today. Pearl White, Ebony fret board, Stainless Steel frets, Quartersawn neck. So far it feels and plays great. I will get a better feel for it this week.
