Just in a cardboard box. But don't feel bad. None of the Tributes, B-stock or not, comes with a gig bag. In fact, the Fullerton Deluxe basses do not come with an HSC, but only a gig bag. Only the option order models, the 40th Anniversary models, and the CLF Research models now come with HSCs.

I haven't heard of any functional issues with the purchases from the online store, except for that one pickup issue mentioned here.

Just a quick G&L story.
I was at Sweetwater last night for a rehearsal and had a few minutes to kill. So I browse through their bass room and ended up playing Spector, Ibanez, Music Man, PRS basses hanging on the wall. The one that blew everything else away by a mile was a G&L L-1000! I played an L-2000, SB-2 and LB100 as well, and they were all great...but that L-1000 was spectacular!
I had an L-2000 for 20 years and still regret selling it. Granted, Sweetwater does a pretty great job of setups on everything and this was a USA model in the cool Army green color, but this still was just hanging on a music store wall...and flawless. Even those $2500-$3000 basses could not keep up with G&L. Good to know they've still got it! Carry on G&L fans.

Is this normal?
On my Tribute L2000, when you roll the treble boost all the way back to its lowest point, there is an audible static filled click followed by a large boost in the more goose-honk midrange. It's rather annoying when all I want to do is roll off the treble and darken the sound. There's a very very fine line on that control between dark/no treble boost and the HONK

Sounds like there may be a short in the pot at the end of its taper, or dirt depending on how the circuit is set up.

I've noticed the honkiness. It's not horrible, but it is there. I've noticed it on multiple basses, so I'm inclined to say that's normal.
The static-filled click, however, should not be. I'd hit the pot with some contact cleaner.
I had two (margarita and lake placid blue) and felt the colors were more vivid in in person, much better than what most photos show. Here are a couple photos:
Is it like the absence of the gloss concentrates your attention on the intensity of the metallic color?
Also, does the frost finish of the paint make the pearloid pg seem especially shiny?

Wow this is the nicest Ikea bass I've ever seen! Congrats, nicely done!
Yes, I would agree with that statement. Gloss reflects a lot more light so when you are looking at it, your eyes tend to focus on the reflections and not the paint underneath. With a satin finish, your eyes are immediately drawn to the paint without much distraction.
Not at all. Frost finish still has a sheen to it so they work well together. Now, if you went with a non-metallic satin color say flat black or sonic blue, the pickguard could look out of place. It's one of those things you'd have to see in person and under lights to know.
I have a different but weirdly similar thing on my SB-2. Maybe they're related. The volume pot on the bridge pickup actually rolls off slightly but noticeably from about 8 to 10.. No click or hissing sound, but it's weird. I tried cleaning it...no change. So I just bought a new pot and replaced it...still no change. I even tried yet another new pot...still no change. The bass sounds great, so I've just learned to live with it. I have no idea what causes it, and I have no idea why I brought it up. I just can't seem to stop typing.
