Your reply is much appreciated! Would I be safe in assuming that between the G&L and Hipshot there's not much difference in weight?

I don't have exact weights, but I'd say they are pretty comparable. The G&Ls might be an ounce or so heavier for all 4 (or 5) than the Hipshots, but either will be significantly lighter than a standard set of Schallers, which is what the original G&L tuners were based off. I don't know about the Tribute tuners, so I can't say how much you'll save, but the USA G&L and Hipshots are going to be very comparable.

I just weighed a Hipshot USA 1/2" Ultralite Cloverleaf tuner at 55g. So if the G&L Ultralight is 65g per @OllyW's post, that's a difference of 40g for 4 tuners, which is 1.4oz difference between a full set of Hipshots vs. G&L USA tuners.

So you could save a total of almost 4.5oz by replacing the Tribute tuners with Hipshot. That's a pretty decent savings! That said, for a G&L Tribute, you'd spend less to get G&L branding and the tapered shaft with the G&L USA tuners, which has the added benefit of covering up the existing holes. The Hipshots will leave all the holes exposed.

Just wanted to mention a few things while thinking about them:

That CLF L-1005 looks great! I do not need another bass but dang, that sure is tempting.

@dwellers - Dennis at The Bass Place is very good at taking accurate photos. He has a Matcha Green JB in stock and the color on it appears to vary at different angles. https://www.thebassplace.com/produc...acha-tea-green-maple-neck-pounds-clf2104227/# He is also very friendly. It may not hurt to call him or send him a message asking which photo is the best representation. You could try some of the Reverb sellers as well but I don't know how responsive they would be.

I was browsing @RocketMusic's website the other day and went through all of the specs of the G&L's that are on order. Anyone else do that? There are some really cool orders on there and I find it neat to see what specs people are going with. Especially that orange flake Kiloton. That John guy in PA has excellent taste.

I have a new ASAT on order due to be delivered in a few months and I'd like to have a pickguard made for it, there are some photos scattered about of dressed ASATs and to my eye the look is a dashing one. Could anyone here aim me at where or who has made one for them, or else knows where I could find one? I have no template and am way too unartistic to draw one up, hopefully someone in bassdom already builds one of these stylish pieces of plastic.

Thanks for your time, two of the handful of images that I've seen are these. Since they appear to be the same pickguard it makes me believe that somewhere somebody makes them.

Any thoughts on how the Okoume L series basses sound? Looks pretty, but I heard its being used as a mahogany alternative.

The older mahogany L1000/L2000s looked great, but I preferred the brighter sound of the less exciting looking alder or ash pieces. But the Old School Tobacco Sunburst over okoume just looks SOOOO great.

Have you tried Chandler Music/Pickguard Planet? I didn't see anything like you described so you'd have to contact them.

I really want to try one of the CLF's just trying to decide between the standard string spacing or 19mm. The 19mm versions I've found are all quite heavy at over 10 lbs. Seems the standard spacing can be found closer to 9 - 9.5 lbs.
