Bought this one last week. Had to have the sparkle!! I've wanted a good P5 with a great low B for a long time.
Bass arrived and I was amazed at the good looks , excellent build quality , and the great smell of that case. It was 8 1/2 lbs of pure tonal bliss. Best slap tone of any P bass I've ever heard. Loved the 19mm spacing.
But the neck!!!
It was just too chunky and full for my small female hands and short fingers. I played it the entire day and the more I played, the more it hurt. I wish it was truly a slim C profile instead of a full C. Thats one beefy neck. I sent her back today.

well, you gave it your best shot, and it didn't work for you, I'm sure it will work for someone else.
Maybe you want to try a Kiloton 5. My fretless Kiloton 5 has the "modern C5" neck. It felt much more jazz like to me, so when I ordered my L-2500, I went custom shop so that I could get the "modern C5" neck instead of the "Medium C5" that comes on the L series. The Kiloton is very similar in tone to the L-1000. The pickup is slightly closer to the neck, and the toggle switch has different pickup options, and it's only passive. But if you like the L-1000 you might like the Kiloton.
That looks A LOT like what my dorm room wall looked like back in 1982!
Although, it would still be a few decades before I finally started playing bass.

I bet that sounded amazing! Totally understandable that you couldn't keep it and great you were able to send it back! Comfort is important!
I know the L-2500 is a different beast but my CLF neck (regular 17.5mm spacing) is really comfy. I didn't expect it to be as it has a chunkier profile and is 9.5" radius. If G&L released a 17.5mm spaced L-1000 I'd seriously be looking at it!

yeah the Series 750 is called "CHONKS" for a reason with the .750" string spacing. I'll echo that a Kiloton or maybe even a normal 1000 non-750 series might work better
My new L2000 Tribute arrived today (photos to follow)!
Although the bass has been sold to me as new, I feel it may have been in the store for some time on display as the strings haven't quite got that new string 'zing' plus the chrome on the bridge needed a bit of a 'buff up'!
I haven't given it a thorough inspection yet as I was eager to try it out, but I quickly discovered that there was a wiring fault. Initially I seemed to be getting only the neck pickup but then the Active/Passive switch didn't seem to be doing anything, but after I had flicked the toggle switches a few times things started working. I wasn't sure how long the battery had been in there so I put a new one in, everything then seemed to be fine with the exception of Passive mode on the Bridge pickup. I removed the back plate to have a look if there was a loose connection and I spotted a single black wire which has come off the Active/Passive switch, I think I have identified where it was soldered on as I briefly held the wire against the pole while I lightly hit a string and flicked the Active/Passive switch. It should be a simple job to do and I hope this rectifies it, but not what you expect on a new bass. Has anyone got a link to the wiring diagram please so I can confirm the correct place where it has fallen off?
The action is set slightly higher than I would like so that is one of the first jobs after the wiring repair, I did a very quick check and the truss rod seems to be adjusted there or thereabouts.
As I have said, I haven't give it a good look over yet, but my initial thoughts are that it looks nice, but I can imagine the USA L2000 looking better quality? I had thought the bridge may have been USA manufactured but I'm not sure now. The housing for the wiring is painted black (I assume with some shielding paint), but the soldering doesn't look to be the best!
The neck looks and feels nice, I noted the wide nut width but I had to think about it before I looked and it wasn't noticeably big. Neck is nice and smooth.
Anyway I will do a full review with photos once I've mended the rogue wire, if anyone does have a wiring diagram that would be great.

I just found a wiring diagram, it looks like the black wire is from the bridge pickup and it does go to the position where I thought it went.

Totally get it. I don't have the biggest hands either. All my basses are 4 string jazz necks at this point. The one exception is my L-2000 is 1 5/8". I don't even like fivers because of the neck width. The struggle is real.
If you like jazz necks, you will love an SB-2 neck. I have an American J and the SB-2 neck is better.

LL Sting Ray mentioned a concern I share -- there are C necks and there are slim-C necks (in Jazz width necks). I've hesitated looking at JB basses because I've heard they're a little thicker than a Jazz. Does an SB2 have the same neck thickness as a JB?

A handful were made through @RocketMusic a number of years back, dubbed the "L-1005".
They pop up occasionally.
I believe @bdgotoh had a clear red one that's made it's rounds.
Sorry, but I don't know the answer to that. I don't have any G&L JB basses and have never played one. The SB-2 I have is not as think as my Fender Jazz, if that helps.
Hey Chuck - I have a 2019 Fullerton JB. It is a "Medium C" neck per the build sheet. 9.5" radius. The "Modern C" necks are slimmer (7.5"?)
