G&L Club Part 7

Wait are all Andromeda finishes colored like that?
I thought it was just little white stars or whatever.

It has a flake in it that appears white to slightly silver viewed straight on. At an angle, it changes color. Hard to photograph, but it looks great under stage lights.

Several manufacturers have done variations of the black sparkle finish. They never seem to sell well, but in the right lighting they look fantastic. I think part of the sales issue is that internet photos and/or music store lighting are not where these types of finishes really shine.

The Peavey I posted above in different lighting and at a different angle. Significantly more bland appearance than the prior photo I posted.

Man I watched a Kiloton on Reverb for months with Andromeda, but passed on it. If they'd mentioned the finish does that I probably would have gotten it.

Wow, I contacted Memo about this issue on my Kiloton. His response was basically "buy a new tuner from our website". Maybe because I mentioned I wasn't the original owner?

How old is the bass? I don't think G&L cares for ownership transfer. It is more related to how long the bass was manufactured.
I had to buy new ultralight tuners for my 2011 L2K, but before that, they send me a new replacement neck for a 2020 L2K tribute at no cost.
G&L and Memo's customer service is fantastic and rare to see nowadays.

Nice looking axe, sir. Owned a L-2500 (in my 5-string phase) and love, love, loved the sound, the pickups are CHILD-EATING MONSTERS. Wished it had been a four-banger, though, as I am now in the phase every bassists inevitably goes through - SLAP INFATUATION (dramatic organ chord) - and it would have sounded just BOSS! But I digress... I really just wanted to say, "Bitchin' bass, Vicar!"

Love the block inlays on the fingerboard, too. Rosewood? It fits the Andromeda finish nicely. I should have gotten those on mine. You have a great looking L2K.

It has an ebony fretboard, but it looks a but washed out because I took pics in the sunlight to get the finish to sparkle. Here's a pic next to my M2K which has a rosewood board.

When light isn't shining on it, it looks like the little white stars in photographs. The bottom pic is not directly in the sun. It's actually multicolored glitter over a black background. It looks better to the eye in person IMO

Great choice with the ebony. That really is an awesome looking bass.

Is that feature anywhere in the marketing info about this finish?
I mean, it's way cooler than just a bunch of little white dots that might as well be splatter from the tech one workstation over using white paint.

Oops, it was my JB, not my Kiloton. The JB is a late 2018, so not really old. Asked about the issue June of last year and yeah, Memo directed me to buy a new tuner. I just used the crazy glue fix.
