Very nice custom features on those, and G&L paint jobs are equal to any in the business. Noticing those two customs are used basses priced at $3300. Could probably call for info re how they came to have a couple used customs for sale, but that price sounds pretty hefty for a used bass, whatever the reason. I know inflation is beating the crap out of us, but it's depressing to realize just how rapidly our currency is devaluing.
In the $3-4K range there are a lotta choices for minty used high end basses built with attention to detail that far exceeds what G&L is becoming known for these days. I guess two years wait time for a custom guitar isn't totally unheard of, but with G&L, I wonder if that's because they're swamped with Custom Shop orders, or that they just normally move at a snail's pace, anyway? I'd be surprised if it's the former considering the $4K+ price range. Fender can get away with it, but G&L ain't Fender. Good luck G&L, I'm guessing you'll need it.

Hello! I was thinking of changing out the tuners on my M2000 GTS Tribute, due to the weight. I love the bass, but the weight is a bit much. There are no empress M2000 out there, it seems. And CS M2000 are way too much.
Do I understand correctly that the lightest tuners option out there are the G&L tuners? And that they cover the screw holes left from the Tribute tuners? And that I could save about 4.5 oz overall? Sorry about all this. I'm not a very technical guy.

Been looking at that, it looks to have a graphtech nut also. About a week ago it was on a %10 off sale also ! Ya, if I had the $$ I may have bought it
Well, I don't think they are the lightest, per se, but the USA G&L Tuners are probably among the lightest plate-type tuners that would cover the Tribute tuner holes. The minimalist Hipshot Ultralights are slightly lighter, but not very much, and will leave screw holes visible.
I like that painted headstock! Looks great with the 3-Tone Sunburst finish. (I am not in the market for a wunkay, so you'll have to buy it.)

I like interesting (some say weird) finishes. I saw this on Thunder Road (Seattle) site and snagged it.

Lovely, congrats Gary! Those closures were common on the 1988-1993 era molded cases.
NBD! I just picked up this 2021 Tribute L-2500 off the Sweetwater Gear Exchange (no affiliation). It arrived this afternoon. I'm not really a 5-string player, but this one plays well, so I'm looking forward to becoming very well acquainted with it. It's truly in great shape and hardly looks like it's been played except for the shiny spots in the satin finish above the neck pickup and the active/passive switch.
Here it is when I picked up my L1k from the same store (picture taken 3/17/2023). I got a crappy case with mine, but it acts as my workbench more than anything else.
That's a pretty rare find, I don't recall ever seeing a Swirl L-1000. Nice.
I see the finish is lifting at the bridge. They do that. Kinda fragile, chip easy too. But who cares...it's a Swirl L-1000 !
I'd have taken that thing too.

I especially like the rear-mounted, no control plate look.
You guys have me jonesing for an Wunkay now. Have you ever seen them come up with a 1.5 nut? I'm partial to them but a 1 5/8 isn't a baseball bat.
