I've got a short scale that'll ensure you don't have that problem...And that's why I'm scared of a short scale.
It's an AWESOME (in the right context) sounding Greco full hollow body built in Japan in the 60's or early 70's. The action is about 1/2" at the heel, and it's not going any lower. Talk about a chore to play... My upright is easier to play than that bass, though it also has similar action (but a 42" scale). As I told my son, you better mean every note you play, cause if you're not totally, 100% committed to that note, it's not gonna happen.
I'm sure my lack of interest in short scale has little to do with that bass, but that bass surely doesn't stoke any short-scale fires.
