G&L Club Part 7

Thought I'd ask the G&L-heads a quick question - are the current Fullerton Deluxe basses any good? It seems like in the past they offered them PLEK'D and with hard cases, and now with neither. And is the QC all right? Most of the glowing reviews I see on YT are from a few years ago.
Always loved the sound of any G&L I'd see in a store, but I haven't found one in a long time, and the purple burst JB got me feeling something.

I have a 2021 JB, and a 2022 L2K. They're both outstanding with no QC issues at all. I understand the feeling you got from the purple burst, that one gets me thinking too.

you two are not helping my GAS!
I keep going between the JB4 and the fallout bass... which doesn't have the pearloid pickguard but I'm sure it's not hard to find one.
Thing is, I have no actual justification for getting either. I already have a Fender CIJ Geddy Lee jazz and four other basses. None of them are short scale, though.... but tbh I don't have room for a big collection. My wife, who I know is correct here, says I should swap out one of my current ones, but there's nothing at this point I'd want to swap, except MAYBE my lone acoustic guitar, but that actually has a use......

I've owned about 4-5 guitars (1 at a time) over the years, and never really end up using them much, would always move them on after a year or less. I've found an 8-string bass lets me get my latent guitar tendencies out in a format I'm more comfortable playing.

I started playing guitar 5 years ago. Ended up accumulating them like I had basses. I rotate and play all the basses. I was playing 1 of 5 guitars. Ended up selling 3 of the 5 and a full pedalboard setup. All 3 guitars had very little use and had not been played in over a year. Only kept 2 so I could have an acoustic and an electric though I rarely use the electric. Used the funds on gear that I do use (recording interface and two basses). Should have moved the guitars on a year or two ago.

I have 2 basses I don't play much (Yamaha and Schecter 8-string), but I've found a use for the Yamaha. Tuning it to Drop D for a new project I'm working on. 8-string is fun, but it sounds thin compared to my other basses, so outside of a single Cheap Trick song I use it on occasionally, it doesn't really get used. I've had the Yamaha up for sale but got no bites, so I'm keeping it. My JB is used at home for practice and the other 3 are used in regular rotation, depending on which band I'm playing with and what songs we're doing. Don't plan on selling any now and will probably add at least one more (if I can find the one I want. No luck in the 2-3 years I've been looking) and my also add a 5-string, which would probably replace the Yamaha.

So uh… I accidentally stepped on my cable again and finished off the jack side of the pickguard. What should I do?

Giant washer
Duck tape
Both
New guard
Leave it until the wires break

as long as the jack still functions? I'd leave It as a reminder not to do that again. (hoping that would help avoid the problem from recurring, natch).

If you still have the piece that broke off, glue it back together with super glue then put copper tape to the back of it to hold both pieces together.
I always use a right angle jack and wrap around the strap button. Also always rest your thumb against the pickguard when pulling the jack. Good luck!
