I totally agree about the combo of the Belair and the maple board. I prefer rosewood, but not on this bass. The maple really seems to work! There's that cool Belair 1500 again. Yours looks nicer than a lotta other Belairs.
Maybe the light maple board adds a little "surfness" to it. Sometimes Belair can look kinda offputting. You got a good one there!
@Templar if you lock it in a closet again, can it be like the one to Narnia, where it accidentally ends up in my spare oom!
best 3-way i ever seen
This one has been at GC for probably close to 9 months now? They dropped it $200 to $699 about 4 months ago. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]Now I want another L1500. Or rather a 1505.
@TDR1138 love the Belair Green!@gbrooding you've got me on G&L basses right now...

Either way, @Templar has got us beat!
@Cuzzie there was the Climax in 93-96. That had the #8 neck, a smaller body and the pup in the SR sweet spot.
Then the earliest batch of L-1500s in 96 had the L-2000 body shape, #7 neck and the pup was in the L-2000 bridge position. Not sure what the production numbers were for this, but overall pretty low.
Pretty soon they moved the pickup back into the SR sweet spot while maintaining the body and neck shapes. But I think a common factory upgrade on these was to do a #8 neck with no dots.
I can measure the distant tonight on both my L-1500 and my SR. Curious how similar they are.Does anyone know (even roughly) the distance from the bridge to pickup for the "SR"-style L-1500 pickup placement? ...just curious which version I have (besides the #8 neck with no dots). Mine measures 2" from the front edge of the bridge to edge of the pickup.

Don't have the measurements, but check the alignment of the pole pieces with the knobs.
Current/standard/"SR placement" will have the neck-side row of poles about even with the volume knob and the bridge-side poles between volume and treble.

The small batch that matched the L-2000 bridge pickup location will have the bridge-side poles aligned with the treble knob and the neck-side poles between volume and treble.
