On the l2500, I know over the years they have changed the preamp on them from the original version but did they change the pups as well?
Just hoping one of guys with more knowledge on this stuff can chime in.

The number of windings on the pickups did go up in the 90s by about 10%, if I recall correctly, but were brought back down in recent years (not sure exactly when). Plus your L2KE would have the OMG caps in the circuit, and your L2500 may not.
Thinking of building a copy of the early preamp and wiring the 2500 like the early one. Just because I like to and am curious to the results.
Thanks for the reply. Yes the preamp in my L2KE is all stock. I had to repair it when I got it and went thru it all the way. I appreciate the pup info, my 2500 is a 2014 so I assume that the pups are back to the original winding count then.
For me:ok, if you had two l2500's and wanted the most different kinds of sounds available, what strings would you put on em?
