My L2500 is doing the job...
Passive, volume at 75%, tone knobs on full, both PUs, single coil ('K-switch'), GHS Precision flats. DI box to the mixing console.

Hey landline you are the member of a very exclusive club, the G&L L1005 club. I got the first one made - they are awesome!
Here is my 97 almost mint L2500. Just ordered a JB5 that will accompany it. Been a G&L fan for a long time and they only seem to get better.
Hey Cuzzie, I think the low end can get a little P but I can't get there with the G string, but the MJ5 is a great model with it's own thing going tonally, I think the MJ would be a great add to your two and for an Active only bass it can get plenty warm and probably would way closer to P range with flats on it. The L1005 is a monster considering it's only Passive and certainly can get in P territory. Have you thought about the JB?

Believe me I have thought about practically every bass in the G&L line up!
Personally I just prefer the regular body shape as opposed to an offset body so at this moment not really looking at a JB.
In my head it's a battle between:
MJ4
LB100
SB1
SB2
But I may jump to a fiver.......
I have a fender Cabronita so kind of have a P bass vibe and I am not actively searching BUT I really appreciate the views of guys like yourself who have experience to try to slowly put things together in my head about which one of the above may too the list so if a deal came up I would pounce!

So a year or two ago when Greg @ Rocket put together the run of L1000 basses I started to order one but passed on the opportunity. It wore on me and I eventually bought my L1505 from a fellow TB'r.
I still contmplate picking up an L1k, perhaps an older one. You guys think this is redundant ?considering my current stable of bass guitars:

@jefff100 i don't think it's redundant at all getting a wunkay.
If you can afford it, you want to try it go for it, if you don't like it sell it on even if it's for a slight loss.
As an example if you bought one, had it for 2 years and sold it for £100 less 2 years later some people may be miffed, however if someone said to you you can rent this bass for £1 a month for 2 years then give it back, everyone would jump in it as a good deal-it's no difference really.
If you keep it, well it's an investment!

Some 45 years ago, Buddy Miles issued his fantastic "LIVE" double album (1971).
His bass player was DAVID HULL, a teenager then. You need to listen to his incredible bass lines all across that album, and especially on the "Them Changes" track:
