Ron here wants the wunkay and wunkay5 to be in the line. Haven't thought about the headstock as we dig the 3+2 on a modern 5er. I insisted on the 4+1 for the JB-5; really had to be that way.

I guess I am picky, but I prefer a 3+2 for a 5er headstock, much like I prefer 2+2 for a 4-string.

I'll never own another ASAT, since I just sold one. The neck dive really drove me nuts & the lack of a contour on the body cut off my circulation.
I do still own a G&L & love the brand, just not ASAT.

Those strap extenders look kinda goofy.
If they'd just made the horn long enough, like on the L-2000, the problem wouldn't exist.

If the headstock was a 2+2, that would probably also solve the problem.

@Darth Invader - I finally had a chance to listen to the L-2000 video on a good set of headphones. I was curious about the DI as much as anything. I find it interesting that the L-2000 sounds nothing like my L-2000s. Sounds thinner, less massive. Almost a little single coil-ish. Probably just the way it's mixed, or is that the result of the DI used? Or was the bass just really dropped on the instrument itself?

That's the thing about an L-2000, the range of timbres you can get from one is so vast.
passive or active, series or parallel, and some even have mods to coil split.

I have one of @2saddleslab ASATs with the neck extender, and whilst i did not find the neck dive too bas, it is certainly a piece of genius and helps a lot. I think if G&L took up making it (of course the inventor should get some proceeds) then it would go a long way with the ASAT community, having said that (like one of the guys did earlier) i like 'em a rarer beast and makes them less mainstream.

So far as making an ASAT a 5 banger.......i dunno, think it may well look its best keeping it at 4, but thats just IMHO

It sounds totally L2k to us, but know that is using the controls on the bass to dial things in. The goal was to keep things fairly flat after the bass.
