Heck yeah! MFD single coils in the 60s J-bass pickup locations.
Yeah! If they did this I'm buying one.
Anything with MFDs would tempt me greatly.
Have you seen or had any issues/problems with the swirl finish bubbling/peeling and if so how did you feel about it?
Man I came so close a few years ago to grabbing an LB100 in that finish with the factory Kent Armstrong pickup but missed the end of the auction. Wish I had nabbed it...was going for under $1000AUD.
Spot on on the SB.
The LB100 has the pickup a bit closer to the bridge compared to a Fender P. The tone knob is incredibly useable on that bass though, it takes it back to some great classic P tones.
LBs are a tad more versatile than many other Ps because you have the brightness available when you need it. If you don't want it, cock the tone knob back a little.
I'm waiting for my first G&L bass ever, a custom L-1505, and this thread is killing me drool

When you get it, here's a tip.
Turn the preamp on and put in treble boost mode. Put the bass in series mode as well. Now cock the treble and bass knob back 50%.
This is Stingray mode! You have boost/cut capabilities in your knobs now. Normally both eq knobs are cut only, which is actually nice since they work passively.
Of course you'll find the other modes are useable too, that is a hybrid active/passive that doesn't use passive as a fall back plan.
That's just a neat setting a lot of people don't figure out. Many folks who sell off thier L2000 or L1500 may have kept the bass if they figured that out.

The L-1500s don't have a treble boost setting like the L-2000s do. The L-1500s are just off/on.
the L is a bass that many people wouldn't like if they didn't understand the switches/preamp.
same goes for the SB-2 from what I have researched.

I believe the L1500 doesn't have a flat boost like the L2000 does. So when the preamp is on its with a treble boost.
Same setting applies, preamp on, series, cock both knobs back.

Anyone know what kind of fretboard this is? Looks too dark for rosewood. I'm looking to buy a JB just like this, if possible.

My L-1505 is going to come with an ebony board as well. Very reason why I wanted it custom
When I got my L2KE the preamp was not functioning at all. Had the wrong input jack and a different OP Amp in it plus a couple miswires. I replaced the input jack with the correct one, found the correct IC and corrected the miswires. It came right back to life at that point. I do have a bad bass pot however and I have the replacement for it. It only seems to function when it is nearly cranked but at this point it sounds so good I am scared to change it because I don't want to risk changing the way it sounds!
After doing more searches, I conclude it is ebony. I'm trying to buy used because I'm too impatient to save up $2k+, plus I don't want a brand new instrument.Isn't that ebony?
