So, vintage crowd... Is a bass considered vintage if it an L-2000 shows "Patent Pending" on the front of the headstock?
Assuming they don't, a schecter dug pinnick signature model might be right up your alley.
@dedpool1052 yes buddy, I have my eye on that one if a good second hand becomes available at a nice price.
I am very partial to my G&Ls though and think that the G&L pups, prob an SB-1 if they put it in have the edge on the Seymour Duncan in the dUgbass.
Ideally a #7 or #5 neck maybe #12, as I just prefer them a little thicker. I have read the Schecter is on the thin jazz side of things, which I don't mind, but prefer thicker.
Plus, headstock, colour options etc. And it would be a G&L!
They can call it a cUz bass if they want in exchange for one!

It's been awhile, but it's very comparable to the streamliner. Maybe a bit cleaner and less pillowy

Happily trending in my own peculiar direction.
I sold my Streamliner very shortly after picking up a D800.
I found the D800 to be a better amp for me. The eq is easier to dial in a great tone quickly. I always fought with the Stl tone stack. And the power section is an improve mentioned IMO.
Yeah....I loved GB, but they were never exactly honest with their power ratings. I did forget to mention that the Mesa has a more traditional tone stack.
Just listen to that tone. Headphones recommended.
I love my Streamliner but yeah the tonestack can be a bit of a pain sometimes. My only real complaint with it is how it is a little soft on the bottom end. Pillowy as was said. If it was a little tighter in the low freqs it would be perfect. I know Agedhorse designed both of those amps, would you call the Subway a refinement of the Streamliner or it's own animal altogether?

Yes (in a feel way) and yes (the eq controls don't get all overlappy [yep, just made that up]).
The MG800 is probably closer to the SL in direct lineage (form factor for sure and maybe a percentage of function) but I prefered the Mesa for its tone and outward simplicity.
I've always liked the MESA tone, can you tell it's MESA from the sound?
OK so I've been living with my G&L for not quite a year & in that time have gone from initially not really liking it's tone at all (initially: harsh, nasally honking & metallic sounding) to really digging it. Changing strings made a huge fundamental difference.
Now I'm getting a thick organic warm & woody tone that has awesome grind when I dig in. I'm feeling guilty that my Stingray doesent get as much playing time. I'm thinking about another (second) G&L.
Thoughts: current G&L is an L1505. I'm thinking LB100 (fills that P bass void) or maybe a wunkay. Maybe fretless. Strongly thinking fretless. How is the L1000 significantly different than soloing the neck pu'p on an L2000? (I believe pickup placement is about the same)

For my own edification, which strings did you end up with? I've been using the Dunlop Super Bright Nickels and had good success with them on my L2KE and my L2500.
