Here's my recently acquired Tribute L-2000, that replaces my SBMM SUB Ray4.

Sounds and plays great, even with old and dull strings.

Having said that, I'm a little disappointed at how bad the pots and the switches feel for how much this bass normally costs.

Me too! THe shop I bought it from had a few on clear-out sale and I was so happy they had the natural one.

I dig the natural finish too. Has to have a rosewood board though. I do not care for the natural/maple look which is kind of a shame as there is one on my local CL now. Man I'm gassing for an L2K.

I'm so glad you're still rocking it. It looks like you and that bass have a long future ahead, much like me and my L-2000. Going on two years this November...

Yeah this bass is staying, I'm still debating if I want to do the K mod on it or not.

Hey guys. Any of you have any idea if G&L offers instruments in a nitrocellulose finish? I know I've seen them post some here and there on their instagram page, but have never seen it as a listed option on their website. Just been looking into getting a old school style P like that without having to break the bank on a more expensive custom build a la Moollon.

Nice ash! Is that a 1.5" nut? I would already have an L2000 back in my stable if that neck was more common. I'm on the lookout for the right cosmetics which are mostly optional but a 1.5" nut is key.

Thanks! It's a 1 5/8" nut and I find that it is very comfortable. I was playing a Geddy jazz and an 08 AS jazz for years before I got the L2K, so Im very familiar with the jazz profile neck.

Even a jazz neck feels like a baseball bat compared to a Geddy. My hand would literally seize up and turn into a useless claw when I had my Geddy.

Haha It's not that bad for me but it's quite a shock to my fretting hand going from the G&L to the Geddy. TBH I don't play the Geddy much anymore.

Did you mod your L2K at all? I thought I read you had plans.

Nope, I haven't modded it yet. I did have plans to do the K mod at first, then cooled off on the idea. Now the fires for the K mod are starting again.

DO IT! I love the single coil setting on my L2500, and swapping out the switch is pretty straightforward.

With the neck pickup in single coil mode, it sounds really really like my P bass.

Which coil is that, inner (bridge side) or outer (neck side) ? When I play my L2500 on SC mode (outer coil of the neck PU) , the tone is indeed very P-ish... I like it, but I wonder to what extent the inner coil would be different.

I have my single coil mode set to the outer coils, which works well as a P sound for the neck pickup or a decent J imitation with both pickups selected.

I had it set to inner for a while - a different sound for sure. Not much different for the neck soloed, but a really different sound with both pickups on.
