Hipshot will make custom-spec hardware. They made all the hardware on this bass....bridge, pup surrounds, and control plate. Dunno how much they charge for custom stuff, though. (prolly not cheap)

I was going to say this as well. And since you go to Mike Lull already,
I would take it a step further and get some pickup rings that he uses for his T-basses.
I think the black EMG pickup with a chrome ring would look pretty badass.
Then sell the 35P/35TW on the classifieds to offset the cost.

Yes, Interceptor, as PotsdamBass8 said. Same electronics as the El Toro, I believe.
Interceptor, El toro electronics. Top load so probably early mid 80's. Should have the "sicle" headstock and color matched quite likely. Ebony fretboard. Rare model. Especially as a fretless!
I saw one recently where the top was red but the bevel was black. That one SCREAMED lipstick on a man.

i can now confirm that an L2000 with ti flats and the bridge pickup selected in passive will deliver the warm and rich clean tone that i have always wanted through a 200 watt tube head and two 115s

Are today's used US G&Ls really commanding $1.3-1.5k prices? It seems odd to me that they are selling so high when older US models are $400-800. Not that they aren't worth it, but it seems really high to me.
Isn't that what they sell for new? Are you seeing people actually sell them for that price?
My 2014 SB-2 has been sitting unsold for a month at 900, maybe that's what I'm doing wrong, I need to raise the price!
Talking as a European buyer, I'd say it all depends... Does the bass have custom options? Is it a L-2000 or a JB-5? Is it mint? Do you sell overseas?
I think you can raise the price if a few conditions are met.

Your experience resembles mine. I couldn't even give away my 1999 L-1505 locally for $500 a few months back. But of course, when you're looking to buy older ones, they're priced out this world. Grr.
A fellow TBer said he got one for $1,500 and he felt lucky. My main player, a Cherryburst '89 L-2000, cost $475. By comparison, I really wasn't sure the former was much of a lucky break. But I wasn't going to piss in his cornflakes.
If you mean my Cherryburst L2K, that's a no. I can't sell that one... It's priceless!
I was able to buy a '95 L-2000 for $355 from a local pawn shop. I probably could have gotten as much as $800 but ended up passing the deal to another fellow around here for considerably less. That bass was gone in about 15 hours.
I've had several US G&Ls, basses and guitars. Any that I bought used were in the $400-$650 range, though that was a while ago and I did jump on some deals. Any that I've sold were in the $600-$750 range. $700-$800 seems to be the current range locally (craigslist), with ones over $800 sitting until they're dropped after a few months and ones under $700 selling quickly.
IMO, $1500 for a new one, when you can pick and choose colors, neck profile, etc. is a great deal. It's right in line with other US companies and the quality and options available far exceed the competition.

No, it was meant as a general statement about not-so-rare basses in not-so-rare colors and in a not-so-pristine condition.
But that obviously excludes those special basses, whatever the brand, that may look nothing particular but are real gems.
My point was more: do you realize that going custom with options from Europe through a G&L authorized dealer is in the 3000$ ballpark?
