I am sold on G&L instruments. These two instruments are absolutely great players and they compliment each other tonally. I brought both of them to a gig Friday night and kept going back and forth between them. I did end up playing the Kiloton a bit more than the SB-2 but I just got it so I'm still learning about it.
I sold a Sire V7 last month. It played OK but there was just something about it that didn't gel with me (maybe that tremendous headstock :meh:). Funny how that happens.

Ouch. That gorgeous SB-2 is identical to a sweet one that I foolishly sold a few years ago to please the War Department. Nobody does burst, tort and rosewood like G&L!

I tried the ASAT neck on a 1981 E-Series L-2000 and the fit was very poor. I got another neck off evilBay and the result was the same. I liked the feel, so I had the bodies done - the sunburst was a luthier-made alder body, the luthier shaved off the heel of the neck instead of ruining the body. The black one is a Squier body so he left the neck intact and instead machined the body to fit the neck.

I just want to float an idea and you all seem to be the people to ask. I have an American-made L-2500, blueburst with birdseye maple neck, not sure of year, but in decent shape for a player's bass, that I traded a [REDACTED] for and now I WANT TO TRADE BACK!

I know you guys will tell me I'm crazy (BTW, I *AM*), but I just haven't enjoyed my Foray into Five, I miss the feel of a skinny neck. Also, the weight is an issue because of certain health problems (one of them AGE!). Other than face-to-face interaction, how would one go about making a trade online? How do I know the other guy is shipping his bass to me when I put mine in the mail? Has anyone done this?

I've done a lot of transactions here on TB but I don't think I ever did a trade, certainly not with a bass. But, if I were, I'd do what I usually do: check out the other person's transaction history to make sure they're reputable, check their post history to learn what kind of person they are, and if I still don't have confidence I'd set up an email exchange or a phone call to talk about the deal. In the end, I'd decide to deal or not deal with them based on the info I found.

I did also see a thread recently that asked specifically about trade deals. Maybe there are other suggestions there or you could post there (or both! :D). Check this out: How Do Bass Trades Work on Talkbass?

Sorry to hear about the issues that force you to trade it away. I wasn't that crazy about my L-2500 at first but it really grew on me over time and, now that I've had it for about two years, it's giving my long-time #1, a Stingray 5HH, some serious competition these days. But I understand that everyone has their reasons, so hopefully you get what you're looking for. And don't forget that G&L *does* make jazz basses. ... ;)

That's sounds a lot like my L-2500 - cherry burst, maple, matching headstock. You're gonna love it.

What's everyone's thoughts on the Tribute L2500? Thinking of picking one up. I already have a Spector that's a crazy beast of a bass and quite hard to tame. Will the L2500 fit into a worship band? But also cut when needed.

Our worship team is a full band , three guitars, full drum kit, keys and four singer. We play very loud and we use a large PA system.

I would say yes! I use my L2K all the time for a contemporary worship style band of similar size and it works great.

It does.
I think most people are put off by the lack of tone control. But the P pickup is so hot that backing down on the volume provides an amazing palate of tones from a more modern high-mid to high at full volume to a warmer and very P sound at 60%. Add a little of the bridge PU in and you can really start getting into J territory. Wonderful bass and it plays like it looks :)!
