G&L Club Part 7

I really want to try out all those different CLF Research L-2000's. Leaning towards the swamp ash one but wish I could get it in something else besides natural. I've never tried an okume bass before, curious about that one.

You and me both sister! I've been going back and forth between a Kiloton, L2K or a CLF L2K. First world problems, right?

Is it true that this bass can pull of many different styles? Can it get aggressive if needed?

The L2500 is in a league of it's own for aggressive tones. Most people have a more difficult time dialing the aggression out of the L2500 than into it.

I just want to float an idea and you all seem to be the people to ask. I have an American-made L-2500, blueburst with birdseye maple neck, not sure of year, but in decent shape for a player's bass, that I traded a Precision Deluxe (4 string) for and now I WANT TO TRADE IT BACK!

I know you guys will tell me I'm crazy (BTW, I *AM*), but I just haven't enjoyed my Foray into Five, I miss the feel of a skinny Jazz neck. Also, the weight is an issue because of certain health problems (one of them AGE!). Other than face-to-face interaction, how would I go about making a trade via Talk Bass? How do I know the other guy is shipping his bass to me when I put mine in the mail? Has anyone done this?

PS - I also have a Zoom B9.1ut (multi-effects pedal), new old stock/in box, that I'm trying to get rid of, in case anyone is interested.

Pretty sure you're going to need a Supporting Membership to do any of that.

Simple question. Does a USA JB-2 have L-S pickup? Or is it S-S? Or L-L?

Short of being a naive and utter knob and shipping my bass off never to see it - or the other guy's - ever again. Trades are rare enough, trades over the Internet are probably non-existent, at least among strangers. Well, thanks anyway for the input, guys.

You can find the "Upgrade Now " button if you scroll down to the very bottom of the page. You'll need that to sell, trade, buy or even say that you have something up for grabs. Thems just the rules.
Trades go on all the time here. Cross border trading can be a pain to some people. Other peeps do it all the time with no hassles.

Can definitely second this. This bass can imitate a P-bass better than many P-basses. For slap, comes close to a Music Man. Turn up both pickups, grab a pick and maybe boost your mids - Boom: instant 60s Jazz bass sound. (That reminds me, I wish it had a 3 channel onboard equalizer.) It's a big instrument, though, you should be prepared for that. I hesitate to call the neck "chunky", but it's full and round, how about 'substantial'? Yeah forget it, it's heavy and it's got a chunky neck. There, I said it. Great sounds, though. A veritable panoply of bass tones.

For some reason I didn't care for the L2500's neck or B string. Just didn't do it for me. Great basses otherwise though.

Yeah, local trades would be the safest way to go, I was just thinking of how many more potential candidates I could reach via TB, but there's really no way to guarantee the people you're dealing with are honest. Other than the fact that they play bass and bass players by rule are honest and trustworthy and can only use their powers for good.

I don't know about "bass players", but TB supporting members who have trade ratings and a reputation for good business dealings to uphold have always come through for me. As for the internet in general, well, it's a jungle out there and caution is advised .

So far, the vast majority of folks I've met through TB are stellar people. Of course, there's an odd sod in every crowd but this is a fantastic community.

I've never had a problem with anyone on TB. But I always make sure to do my due diligence. I am very selective of people with no trade ratings, but if they are supporting members Im usually pretty comfortable. Plus I like supporting this community. It's given me a lot back.
