Instead, I will place an order tomorrow for a JB4.
Just not sure about the color and pickguard combo with a rosewood neck.
Any suggestions?
Trans red over flamed maple, no pickguard. But that's just me.

Well that should be good for a couple of pages.
Have you narrowed it down at all. There's a ton of good options in their site. You're probably going to get a bunch of them suggested now.
I personally love @/\/\3phist0 's silver flake. It's gorgeous.
A pearl PG might look good with that.
Edit: not sure if you can actually do that with a JB but it would tick a lot of boxes for me.
G&L have so many options, it is really hard to decide. I'd like to go with something that Fender doesn't offer. Old tobacco sunburst, ruby red or maybe tangerine. I'm on a budget so I won't go with premium finish or figured top.
I just saw one on the net and wow!How about old tobacco sunburst w/o a pickguard.
Bel-Air Green is a thing. I like that on a J.G&L has so many options, it is really hard to decide. I'd like to go with something that Fender doesn't offer. Old tobacco sunburst, ruby red or maybe tangerine. I'm on a budget so I won't go with premium finish or figured top.

). Funny how that happens. In the light of the fabulous finishes seen frequently on this thread, these are not much, but since I was taking pictures of my basses this evening, here is a group shot:

Left to right: 1983 Wunkay, 1984 El Toro, ASAT Bass neck on a luthier Jazz body, Parts SB-2 (1989 body, 1984 neck), ASAT Bass neck on a Squier body (real python skin pickguard).
Love those two basses, especially that SB-2! droolI saw this SB-2 on the G&L website and I HAD TO HAVE IT.
I bought it in December and was so impressed with it that I bought this (2nd hand) Kiloton in January here on TB. Both have pickguardsalthough I may change the one on the Kiloton.
I am sold on G&L instruments. These two instruments are absolutely great players and they compliment each other tonally. I brought both of them to a gig Friday night and kept going back and forth between them. I did end up playing the Kiloton a bit more than the SB-2 but I just got it so I'm still learning about it.
I sold a Sire V7 last month. It played OK but there was just something about it that didn't gel with me (maybe that tremendous headstock). Funny how that happens.

Posted this yesterday. It's the 3rd G&L I currently own.
I like lots of brands, but nothing beats G&Ls!
