I kept reading about all the mods for a series parallel switch on the jb’s.

So, I did it to my Lipstick equipped US JB-2. WOW!!! I have seen the light.

Ok, gotta go play it some more. Sooo choice!!

Thank you for your feedback. The L2500 is very "in your face" and I have to EQ it quite liberally (major drop in mids) to get it tamed for my jazz band use. Like you, I leave it in the passive mode exclusively. They are fantastic instruments. I'm glad I have 2.

I guess my fear is that I'll get an M2500 and bond with it more to where I'm not playing my L2500's as much. Well I have 11 basses now. I try to rotate through all of them. I feel money burning a hole in my pocket, but I'd like to spend it on something that makes sense for me.

Well, I have 23. (That’s 22 more than when I joined TalkBass.) For what it’s worth, my M2500 is the bass I use for modern or funk charts in my big band. It’s the upright otherwise. I think the M suits jazz work very well.

I saw the listing for the JB a couple weeks ago on the G&L site. The only place that I've seen show them for sale is Prymaxe for pre-order.

Wow, at $499 that's an impressive offering. My gut tells me they're gonna sell a bunch of those. I'd also expect the price to nudge up soon if they do.

G&L, marching ever-forward at their own steady pace, staying competitive. So un-G&L-like of them. I bet Leo would be proud.

I think I have to agree with armybass that G&L is at their zenith right now.

Do any of you guys know why some recent USA L2000s have a separate battery cavity and some don't? Is it a year by year thing, different model? I have seen some with and some without.

like i always say, order them when you're broke. that way you don't want them to be finished because you have to figure out how you're going to

I think someone at G&L has been reading my mind! As I've started to somewhat mature as a bassist, I've felt compelled to acquire a representative of the major iconic basses (Ric, P, Jazz, EB0/3, etc).

Though I truly appreciate the Jazz bass, it's not an instrument that I love enough to drop serious cash on. I figured I would end up picking up a Squire that met my fancy but deep down I hoped that G&L would decide to start offering a Tribute JB seeing how I would never expect to find a USA JB in the considerably under $1k price range.

Not only have my unspoken prayers been answered but actually to spec on what I would have chosen myself - 3T Sunburst, black PG and blocked and bound maple fretboard. Just preordered - today is a good day.

YES!!!! I can't wait to see real-world pictures. I may have to get one.

I have 2 Squier VM jazz basses, one of which is customized some much it's only about 30% Squier. The other is mostly stock. They just don't get played like they used to. They used to be my bass of choice. I'm considering selling the stock Squier and getting the G&L.

Speaking of posting pics, I don't believe I've shared what may very well be my favorite bass I've ever had the pleasure to own.

They added the separate battery compartment around 2014, not sure why. Obviously models without a battery won't have it.

Due to the M-series already having a separate battery compartment, they decided to do the same to the L-series to simplify production.
On G&L's old site, they had a section with various prototypes and had an L-series with the battery box and that was the explanation they gave.

How often do you have replace the windows in there? Probably be a good idea to have a contract with the glass place. Big stack, Super Bassman, Tookay, sheeesh! Enough to summon law enforcement.

Luckily there is a shipyard across the street so nobody complains about the "noise"

I think I have to agree with armybass that G&L is at their zenith right now.

Which is why it's VERY important to build your customs... Historically, this is the last place a company is at before their customs either disappear or quadruple in price!!! I cannot stress this enough!!!

I love G&L, and I want them to grow and be successful, but, I also still want to be able to get what I want, when I want.

Don't forget, 14 years ago, Fender also had cool finishes and unique offerings... Now you get black, white, or natural and limited models are all but non existent.
