So the serial is 0509XXXX. Am I understanding this correctly as a September of 2005 Korean built tribby?

G&L Tribute Serial Numbering scheme

Tribute serial number formats are:
nnnnnnn (e.g., 0123456 - Made In Japan Tribute Models only)
Just a string of numbers with no date coding
YYMMnnnn (e.g., 01234567 - Made In Korea Tribute Models only)
Two digit Year, two digit Month, four digit serial number
Example: 02113587 would be the 3587th instrument built in November of 2002
YYMMnnnnn (e.g., 012345678 - Made In Indonesia Tribute Models only)
Two digit Year, two digit Month, five digit serial number
Example: 090812428 would be the 12428th instrument built in August of 2009
LYYMMnnnn (e.g., L01234567 - Made In China Tribute Models only)
"L" to denote Chinese, two digit Year, two digit Month, four digit serial number. Cantrell Rampage

I need to source a new truss rod nut for this bass....G&L's site says the nuts they have are for mid '06 through mid '13.
Any thoughts guys/gals?

A member has a 1999 JB2 for sale which looks very nice.
Are all years of manufacture about equal or, are there some years that folks feel have either a better build quality or better materials?
While I have some older Fenders and a Leo Stingray, I never have played a G&L.
Do they play and sound similar to a 70's J bass?

I assume that you mean JB2, and yes, they play like fenders, better, but like fenders
I only mention it because they also have an LB1, and SB2... It can be confusing and they're all very different.
It seems that some are listed for sale as JB, others JB2.
Is this just sloppy nomenclature, or are they different?

Don't know the thread size, but just want to mention to make sure it's metric, not SAE. My thought would be to take the existing one off and take it to a hardware store where they have those little jigs where you can test the thread size. Figure out the thread size and order what you need online.
JB = Jazz Bass clone, similar in size
JB-2 = two Jazz pickups in a downsized P-ish body, no longer in production.
The USA JB (Fender J clone) arrived around 2008. The USA JB-2 model continued for a few years after that, and I don't remember when it was phased out. The Tribute JB-2 is still in production.

I don't know anything about the J line, their following is much smaller than the other models. Sounds like a JB2 to me though.
I just picked up my first USA L2000 today, a nice 3-bolt sunburst model:
It has a bit of wear on the neck plate and the E-string side of the bridge, but man does it play nice! The previous owner also installed a Hipshot D-Tuner (and put the original tuner in the case). It also came with a Johnson-brand hard case. Is that an aftermarket case, or is that the case that shipped with G&L basses? The only other US G&L I've owned was a fretless L1500 (also a 3-bolt in sunburst) and I don't remember what brand of case it came with.
EDIT: I also think it has a quarter-sawn neck, but I'm not 100% positive. The grain looks like it runs perpendicular to the fretboard, from headstock to the heel. You can see it in the photos, with the back of the headstock being easiest to see in the pics I've posted. Thoughts?
