Yeah, Ken advised against that as well. I really want to appreciate the bass for what it is, and let it do what it does well. I didn't play it today and kind of missed it.
I was kind of thinking out loud, because I always wanted G&L to have that electronics setup in the L series. Always thought that would make an even more awesome L2k. If I could make an L2k that's what I would have done--only with switchable mids on the pre. Lakland (and a few others) got that part right.

JB-2 (US) joined my fretted and fretless LB-100's.

Nice that's one of my goals is a fretless lb-100. I currently have a Tony Franklin fretless but I'd rather have an lb 100. What would be really cool is to find an empress version.
I tried doing a looper cover of Radiohead's Idioteque with my L2000!

I had an '82 L2K in exactly that finish that was mahogany - those slot poles might be earlier. I wonder what's under the paint? And I wonder if he's thinking straight-up trade for those flat-tops? Good luck!

They're calling it a brown burst. First jazz for me. I could never manage the offset bodies. This feels (and plays) like a dream.
Excellent - I saw (and played) it when I stopped by GC to look at amps, and I tell you it was haunting
me since it just felt great. I'd been keeping an eye on it via the GC used site and indeed noted that they
had it listed as brown burst, but it sure looked transparent black to me. It's a beauty and glad that
it found a good home

Hey Bonin' it's all good. I'm a few (Ha) over my self-imposed (Hahahaha) limit and sold my 11.5 lb L2Ke a few months back. I still have lighter fretted and fretless ash L1K's with 1 1/2" nuts so this tone is somewhat covered. I have finally succumbed to following the advice of my aging shoulder and wrist. Well, mostly

I agree but I'm playing it safe. Either way she's the best example I've owned and I went through a bunch.
So, I need to put a new set of strings on my tribute LB100. One of the strings that' currently installed must have a slipping core. It keeps dropping pitch like crazy.
Anyway, I'm thinking Ernie Ball Super Slinky Cobalts. I'm a round wound guy.
Thoughts?

That's a super-bright string with a character all it's own. It's one you have to try for yourself

I like how Ernie Ball Strings sound with a P-style bass, but my favorite roundwound string for a P-Bass is Rotosound. The Swing Bass 66's have great top-end with a little bit of clanginess the sounds awesome, imo. Dial the tone knob back a bit to temper some of it, but it still allows the bass to cut through nicely.
