Same here. The lb100 is a 2017,don’t know the year of the jb2 yet,as I haven’t taken the neck off to check. I personally prefer the jb2’s headstock shape.

Oh man, purchased a bass via Reverb this morning. We just had 8" of snow dumped on us (Seattle area). Bass is shipping from AZ via UPS. I expect a Thursday/Friday delivery. 39 degrees and sun for Thursday, 38 and snow for Friday. I'll have to let that bass acclimate for a week at this rate!!

Yes. Twice, even.
Neither one has a 1.75” nut like my 57 P did, but i am loving them both. (Especially the JB2).
Fantastic sounding instruments.
I traded my 57 for the lb100, and loved it so much i went on the search for a US JB2.
I took a chance on a used one from GC online,and it turnd out to be an absolute gem.
My L-2500 is a gnats whisker under 17.5mm, I'd say around 17.4.

As my new bass is still on its way and won't be here until Thursday, all I can do is think about. So instead, let me tell you how I came into G&L basses.
Sometime in the late 90s, I bought a blueburst L2000 off the wall at Bass Northwest (RIP). It must've been a USA model (did Tributes even exist then?). I loved how it looked, but I just couldn't dial it to a sound I liked. As I've read posts here, it seems that for some people, that can be an issue, getting the sound to sit in the mix, etc.
Anyway, I don't know how long I had it, but I sold it on CL or something and off it went. I continued using my #1 at the time, EBMM Sterling.
A few years later, I became #119 of this esteemed club when I picked up a US SB-2 off of eBay for $600 or so. This was in 2007. I had done barely any research on it, was looking for a P-bass when I saw a yellow/black PG on TV once (Mike Watt backing Kelly Clarkson, of all things). When I saw the SB-2, I loved how it looked, bid on it (not expecting to win), and won.
Fast forward to now, and it's been my #1 all this time. It's never let me down and it's always sounded and looked fantastic.
But... I developed an itch. An itch you are all familiar with...
At Christmas, I asked for a bass, complete with links, etc. My wife told me to put a "big gift" on my list. A bass went on the list. I had Tribute Kilotons on it, mainly. But the BIG one I put on was a USA Kiloton, $1499. I didn't expect to get it and to her credit, though she did reach out to some musician friends of mine, she realized what a personal item a bass is and due to that (and price tag), she demurred and got me a gig bag instead (pretty cool too!)
But... I kept hunting. I started checking Reverb.com. I started researching G&Ls. I played a Kiloton in person. I read up on SB-1s. Do I get one of those despite already having a SB-2? Can't I just turn off my bridge P/U? OMG, look at that Yellow Fever SB-1!! Etc, etc.
Then I started reading about the L1K. Almost unanimously, anyone that had one/played one here on TB raved about them. The hogs. The 80s models. The pre/post lawsuits. The BABPs. The CLFs.
The CLFs??
4 models, Rally red/maple, Tobacco burst/rosewood, natural ash/maple, Pharaoh Gold/rosewood. I'm a rosewood guy, for sure; just love how it looks. And then that Pharaoh Gold? Wow! And that chrome control plate? Wow! But that price? $1699 retail? Wow!
Then I played a tobacco burst at The Bass Shop in Seattle. Really loved how it sounded via their Aguilar Tone Hammer 300. Messed with all the modes and dials. Felt great, but I didn't have the $$$.
Kept an eye on all the L1Ks on Reverb and here at TB. I was sort of interested in tracking down a vintage one off of TB, but didn't have the cash. I've been saving from gigs and had about $400. I was also selling a Lakland Skyline DD, which I ended up trading straight up for a Skyline Decade. And even with that, I was thinking of using that as a bargaining chip if I needed more $$.
Anyway, long story longer, one of the Pharaoh Gold L1Ks on Reverb got priced down, going for $1209. On top of that, it was available to be financed via Reverb's Affirm. I thought about it all weekend and finally pulled the trigger yesterday. I'll have a bill due in early March, but I'll be dropping $500 on it and then financing the rest for the next several months. We have gigs lined up and those should be able to cover any payments as they come up.
In the meantime, I'll still love on my SB-2, and occasionally the Decade (still learning that one!), but I'm gonna put this L1K through its paces once it's in my hands.
I cannot wait. Look out for the NBD post soon! In the meantime, as we know posts are worthless without pix, here are the aforementioned Decade and my trusty SB-2.
