I got better pics of that bass. If it´s original, I´m planning buy its body for a bargain and then get a replacement neck for it. What do you think about it, guys?

I'm really digging it so far, with factory strings. My first true P bass. Going to try some pure blues on it tonight.
Congrats! I have one just like it. It was my first precision bass purchase ever as well. It was followed a few months later by a sunburst Tribute LB-100.
I recently added EMG Geezer Butler pickups to it and I'm digging it. I will test the new pups tomorrow night.
They are definitely strong in the mids, a lot depends on the character of the ash body ime. Certain basses just have too much overtones coming out around 500hz. If you have an EQ that can scoop that out it will help. I have found that Ken Smith Bass Burners strings sound good on a mid-forward instrument. Lowering the pickups can help; you might think they are too far away but MFDs are very powerful so it won't be a problem.
Well just sold the L1000 today,going to Wisconsin,to great TBer on here. So now the journey continues with the Cherry Burst L2000. One had to go,to take care of other priorities. Love the G&L's!

Then I saw it or its twin again.. yours...right after doing a deal for the L2K a couple pages back, and with me in full 'responsible mode', my son's wedding being 3 months away. Some day, maybe.
I have begun a renewal of love for my L2k. I had put it away, had it up for sale and just felt it unfit to play for over a year. Now, its as if the strings that I put on fresh last year finally woke up and man.. I tell you. It sounds awesome. The comfort of the neck really brought me back to it but the tone and the variety of sound and the GAS. I've had GAS on and off for a year now. So I was prompted to pick her up out of the case and here we are this morning. In love again....
But the GAS.... I'm thinking of an L1000. CLF Research has a nice bass being offered. And so I'm starting to scour the Youtube video of sound samples and I've noticed something about the G&L brand that keeps popping up on the reviews. Most, if not all, of the basses being reviewed, have a lot of string buzz from the Low Action I guess, that's incorporated into the tone of the basses. I don't understand why. So I set my bass up that way, tweeked the pickup hight, tweeked the saddle hight and took a lot of relief out of the neck. Played that for a while. Then I set it up better (for me better) and just can't put it down. Very little string buzz and I have to dig in to get it to grind. Still slaps nicely (when I don't miss the strings) too. Ugh. Its really a pleasure to play so I just needed to express my thoughts on this fantastic, well built, well designed bass guitar.

There was some discussion a ways back involving a prospective buyer and their concerns about always hearing fret buzz on every video. I've noticed it too, and not just with G&L. J players seem to really love this, too. I don't think they're doing themselves any favors with it. I guess it adds "character" or something, but I've never played in a situation where that would be a desirable thing to have. My G&Ls play very well and don't have any fret buzz. Sure I can lower the action a scosh to get it, or I can pluck the string at a different angle to produce it, but really it's just not something that does any justice to whatever bass is being demoed. (Sorry for the rant.)
I think it ruins the demo, IMO. Either way I'm happy with my bass but maybe the players need to be told that it may be a good idea to take the strings off the fretboard if your gonna play it.
I get zero fret buzz on my L-1500 and El Toro. But I know what you are talking about, it seems most of the L-2000 videos have that buzz going on.
Another thing is, the pickup is often too close to the strings. The demo guys always want to impress us with flashy chops up the fretboard and thus clank all over the place. Against the pickup, that is.
Just put an L-1000 on layaway. Appears to be 1980. Pretty excited to get it later this month!!!

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but has anyone noticed that the point on G&L's headstocks sticks out less on certain models? I noticed that my Kiloton and LB-100 have a less pronounced point than on my JB. Their headstocks look a lot cleaner and sleeker. Wonder if this is a custom option or it's like that on certain models for a reason?
I have noticed that. The point on my L-1500 is slightly different than the one on my El Toro. Always kinda chalked it up to the difference in years. El Toro is 1984 and L-1500 is 2017.
