G&L Club Part 7

WRT the K-series electronics package, here's what I have to offer.


The preamp in these basses is really just there to help against signal loss with long cable runs, with the added ability of a treble boost setting.
The bass and treble controls are both passive cut only controls. So both full on is "flat"

Some approach this by turning the B/T controls all the way down, and then gradually adding them in. Some do the opposite.
Another approach, is to dial it back on the volume control, instead of diming it like most people.
Setting both B/T at the halfway point can give you a nice midway point to work from.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
These basses are best approached as a passive bass.

I think the other day I was saying in another thread that my black maple P bass is my #1, but that was stupid. Its the L2000.

@keto That's a beautiful bass right there! That grain is excellent. And and the Black Burst and white binding, two other options I was heavily considering. I think I need 3 more G&L's just to cover the colors and options I like!

I want a 5 string. JB body, L2500 pickups and preamp, maple board with 4+1 headstock. Hoping one day this may become a possibility.

Thanks. I forgot to say it's my #1 and likely best bass I'll ever own for my hard picking style, so punchy when I need it, but doesn't have to be overpowering. If the fretboard was 1/16" or so narrower, or even not but more rounded coming around from the neck, that's the only trade off with bound/maple, it's a tough surface.

Thanks man! It has a 1.5" graphtech nut, quartersawn neck, and single coil mod.

No. You could get away with 17.5mm, and maybe out to about 18mm, but I wouldn't push it beyond that and expect the strings to stay within the magnetic field of the pole pieces throughout the extents of their vibrations.

Took the JB out for a spin today, it sounded so good.
It was hot (95f.) and we had our challenges (11 piece band). The bass neck was on the move and I was constantly tuning. My pickguard was distorting (coming away from the body) ..it was weird
But after the sun went down it was on. We found our groove and our instruments started to cooperate.

In everyone's opinion - would L2500 pickups get the job done in a bass with 18-19mm string spacing (considering G&L 5 strings have 17mm spacing)?

Is the spacing on the 4string MFD (L2000) 19MM?

Granted, too many strings, but they are G&L's

I couldn't decide between this Fullerton Standard ASAT Classic and this Fullerton Standard Legacy. So they both came home In the picture, Legacy looks purple-y but the color, in person is much more silver, G&L Calls it Graphite Metallic. The ASAT is Emerald Blue Metallic but, in person, the color is much more green than blue.
They both sound as amazing as they look!

Wow! Playing outdoors in that kind of heat....
Sounds like a graphite neck bass would be a good investment....or an all-graphite bass,even.
