No, in all 3 modes, passive, active, and active with boost, all the pots have to be at 100% or nothing.Does it work normally in passive mode?

I have to leave work soon and I'm not sure when I'll get back to the computer, so I'll just give you my thoughts based on what you've said already.Hi,
I have a G&L L-2500 tribby that is having some issues. I replaced the battery a couple days ago and since, the only way to get any volume for it is to have the bass, treble, and volume turned all the way up. I have tried different batteries and have the same issue with the batteries being brand new and full of energy. I have open her up and all the joints and connections look good. I have had some crackling from the treble pot before this occurred. I keep going to the connector for the battery being the issue.I have never had a problem with this bass until now and I need her back!!
Any ideas?
Here's the deal, the black Signature model would never receive such a treatment because it was probably one of the last guitars Leo touched. Not if you're going to molest a gorgeous ASAT with a pickguard.

The Blonde has already been molestation, from naturally, by her previous owner drilling holes for multiple strap anchor points, likely to combat this alleged neck dive issue that I've never experienced.
If I add accessories to dress this out like a Telecaster, another Leo Fender creation mind you, I would do so as minimally invasive as possible.
Is that better?

Your being in Denver where humidity is ~20%, my best guess is that some static electricity zapped your preamp chip when you changed the battery. Try this:
--> Take the battery out and see if you can get the bass to work with the preamp selector switch in the passive position.
--> If not, cut the white wire going to the "IN" terminal on the middle of the left edge of preamp board. You can cut the wire at any point along its length between the preamp board and the volume pot, taping the ends so they don't short out to anything else in the control cavity. The diagrams below show the wiring and the particular wire you want to cut. Try to get the bass to work with the preamp selector switch in the passive position.
If this works, then you may only need a new preamp chip. If you or a buddy is handy with a soldering iron, the chip costs about a dollar plus shipping:

Good luck!

FWIW a thought came to me, perhaps the volume pot has an issue, does it "seem" to have the full sweep, or is it more like on / off?The chip is not in play when in passive, there is something else at work (or not working) here.
A bad solder joint, or crossed/nicked wires--- possibly in the output path back to the jack

FixableI cut the white wire and have no sound coming from the bass.![]()
Musician's friend appears to have pulled it from their site. I haven't received any emails from them but I noticed that the arrival date was pushed to the end of September last time I checked the site.I couldn't stand it. I ordered one for my birthday. Love that color.
