It went back and I ordered something else.

@Scott Loveless After some ordering snafu's of a few different brand basses, finally settled on a lake placid blue G&L Tribute JB. I prefer to have the gloss neck and the vintage tint. I've always wanted a blocked and bound neck like that. I can't wait to get it.

I had never thought of the L2x00 curcuit this way - so technically (as a Fender Tone Stack behaves) it could be legit to run the bass and treble completely off and still produce a useable tone? I need to go home tonight and experiment a little!!!

I knew the bass and treble are passive - I run mine usually passive at about 75% bass, 50% treble, parallel, both pickups, volume 100% - and the tone is perfect - but I like getting new tones when I can. It never occurred to me to try lower options!

I did work there in the 80s and had several protracted conversation with Leo, George, and Dale. Worked and helped at NAMM for a couple years.
A former bandmate is a current master builder at Fender.
I have a bit of legitimate first hand experience going back a bit.

So I really like the larger control knobs on the CLF research L2x00 basses. So I bought some 25mm knobs off Amazon.

What do you think? Too much?

Now I know what happened to the radio dial knobs that someone stole off my '76 Chevy.

I think the L2500 already looks like "very much," 3+2 headstock and double humbuckers. So even setting aside that you like them (which is the beginning and end of the discussion ) I think it works!

Ja - I've heard some say they don't like the G&L 3+2 headstock, I've got it on my L1505, works fine IME.

Actually it's impressive that they where able to squeeze all 5 onto a smaller headstock & still use the large mounting plates.

Me too. Quite apart from the sense it makes re: neck dive, on my 4+1 JB5, I find myself constantly tuning the D string when I mean to tune the G string—it just looks so much like a 4-string with that 5th tuner hiding on the other side of the headstock. With the 3+2 of my L2500 and M2500 I don't do that at all. Probably some perceptual miswiring in my brain.

Even more I prefer a 2x3 like Brubaker for example;

Provides better break angle for the B, behind the nut.
The 4x1 just looks too long to me.

And a backwards look to an earlier Leo Fender design (or was it Forrest?)

Not to mention that the sparkle glistens more evenly with the balanced 3x2 arrangement of those chrome tuners!

You're right. With the large bridge and the large-and-in-charge nature of the L2x00, the knobs seem like a logical addition.

Yeah I think the (25mm) oversized knobs are a keeper. Pretty bitchin'.

I bought some slightly oversized (21mm) knobs for my LB100 as well. Also an Amazon find.

The Geezer pickups were not standard. I added them to each of my 2 Tribute LB100.

It's funny isn't it? In regards to the 3+2 vs. 4+1 headstock - it's probably my fault this is coming up. I totally get everyone's reason for liking 3+2 better and respect everyones opinion on this board. It's merely a visual thing for me, and I prefer 4+1.
I'd still like to see one of the newer L2500s with 4+1 once someone picks one up.

The CLF knobs are available on the G&L website if you're interested in getting them. I've contemplated picking them up for my L2000 Tribute so they match my CLF L1000.
