I've had a handful of G&L basses. The three that have stuck around all have wide necks with 7.5" radius fretboards. That's what I like. I've let go of a few great basses just because of the neck profile.
I wish they had a wider 5 string neck option that was thinner front to back. I want a G&L 5, but I just don't get along with the ergonomics.

I do like the rounder fretboards too. I have an MJ-4 with a 12" radius and it's my least favorite G&L neck. I have trouble with fret clank when my plucking finger moves off the A and rest on the E on lower notes. Yea, I can always rest my thumb on the E string, but sometimes it's on the pickup.
I think it's the same preamp as the MJ-4? Nice bass, but man are the pickups weak on it. If I remember correctly, the M has a slighter weaker version of the L pickups.
I'll have to try an M2000 at some point. I do love my L though.
I think the preamp is the same. The M 2500 pickups are less aggressive than the L but still aggressive. I really love it, hope you can try one sometime!
Sweetwater let me know that due to the shutdown they probably won't be able to give a quote on option order G&L until mid April
I wonder the matador would sound like? I've never heard a bass with a p style pickup at the bridge. Thoughts?

I like it. I didn't expect as much of a change in the neck pickup switching form serial to parallel with a split coil pickup since both halves are doing separate strings.
The neck pickup doesn't sound as dark as my SB-2 either.
This showed up today. No clue what year, but 6 bolt model so not too old.

Yes it was. $800 shipped with G&L hard case.
Couldn't pass it up. Was looking for a SB-2.
Beautiful bass. That headstock looks really nice.
SB-2 is a tone monster. The two pickups really compliment each other. Neck pickup seems darker to me than a p-bass. The bridge pickup has more growl than a j-bass.

wasn't sure where to post this,,but when I was riffing around this evening I noticed a buzz when I have my finger on the high e string on the 7th fret and if I press the low E down to the same fret while striking the high e making a D note on the 7th it gives a buzzing noise, if I lift off the low E string its gone,every other fret from end to end is good except the 7th fret.
would that be a fret issue? im still a humble greenhorn on the tech side, its a l2500 tribute 5ver, stay safe and all the best.

Unless you need financing, your better off calling Greg @ Rocket music. I have had multiple email exchanges with Ben at Sweetwater this week . They are bound to the same G&L internet pricing structure as anyone else. He was also more wanting to "sell" me rather than "help" me . I'm sure that's his job and he provides this service very well . Greg otoh gave me a personalized Bass building experience and was very patient with me making "last minute " changes and decisions. Rocket music wants your business and it shows . Sweetwater does too , but you and your order will just be another number with them .
However , you simply cannot beat their ability to help out if you need your New G&L financed . That is what you get in trade for "personal " service in your build . Not bad by any means , just a different experience. IMO
