Just got an email that Sweetwater now carries G&L. Not posting to discourage you from using your local store or visiting one of the well known well liked G&L dealers mentioned in this thread. I am posting, because one of the great ironies of Sweetwater GearFest will finally be resolved. I went annually when GearFest first started (even saw the free Tower of Power show they did the night before GearFest in one of the early years). I have been going less frequently lately (so this may no longer be the case). It always amazed me how many amp manufacturers brought G&L guitars to demo their amplifiers, but Sweetwater was not a G&L dealer. Problem solved now.
Beat me to it... I was flipping through the YouTubes and an announcement video popped up...
Please don't judge me... I don't YET have my first G & L.. but this is gonna be difficult to break the arm twisting.
I've been drooling over an LB100 for at least a year.. and with @Iv@N posting comparisons isn't helping
Probably can. One of the email sections highlights an L2000 from the custom shop. Would be surprising if they did that and could not order one.
Just called them and the answer is YES on both option and custom orders.

Based on mine and others' recent experience with the Custom Shop, I would recommend anyone considering a CS order to work with a shop that has had a longer relationship with G&L; someone like UpFront Guitars or Rocket Music. CS orders can get bumpy, and you're going to want someone to act as a buffer to make sure you get what you ordered without wasting a whole bunch of your time and energy.

I am so in love with my M2500, it's only been a week but I am seriously contemplating getting a fretless M2500 this summer. I got quotes from a few different dealers- Rocket Music was the best, but Bass Central was only $10 more. I just wrote Sweetwater with the same build info to see what they would say- I'll let you all know.
I might just be patient and try to pick up a used G&L fretless, M2500 are pretty rare but JB5 and L2500 come up from time to time. It would save a lot of money.

Does anyone here have any knowledge about the G&L aging options that they now offer in the custom shop? Or maybe someone has one the "rustic" models they previously offered? I'm not able to find a lot of pictures of either.
Yea, it's stunning really when you consider what you get. I think the most I've paid for a used G&L is $900? All outstanding basses too.
Plus, so many more options than say Fender. 5+ necks, fretboard materials, frets, body wood, finish...
Glad you're loving that M2500. I've often wondered what it sounds like compared to an L2500?
My first G&L, an L2000. It has the super fat 1 3/4" nut width neck. I wasn't sure if I'd like the neck when I picked it up, but I really do. It's actually easier for me to player a fatter neck down low than a thinner neck for some reason.

It's the same for me. Super skinny necks force my wrist to bend too much and i tend to press the strings with more force than what I actually need

Exactly my observations too....I love an old school P Bass neck profile. My 2 G&Ls have super fat mid 90s 4 string necks!
Interesting - I recently grabbed a non-export Fender Aerodyne J bass. Looks insane, plays great, sounds great..... Hate the J bass neck :-(
Well to be fair you actually don't get neck size options on the 5 strings, but lucky for me I love their 5 string neck.
The M is more modern and hi fi sounding than the L, a little less aggressive and more user friendly. I played an L for a long time and I definitely prefer the M.

It's good to hear that people are not fans of the narrow J neck. Here on TB it seems like all I hear is "if only it had a J bass neck." C'mon people, it's a bass, not a fiddle.
