G&L Club Part 7

Thank you my friend... You're darn tootin that I'm a big G&L fanboy, and I certainly put my money where my mouth is. Who would ever question my loyalty and commitment to the brand?View attachment 3835779 View attachment 3835780

Holy twinkling sparkles! I haven't run into you in a while and forgot all about your basses. G&L's metal flake finishes are off the charts!

How ya been, neighbor? :D

YOOOOO! What's up buddy! All is good, we're essential personal, so no layoffs!!! But, I'm almost done restoring the vette, and the band has resumed practice, so I'm a happy camper! Howabout you?

"Essential", so still working. Same with my wife but she can work from home. I can't, so I'm still going into the office. Luckily they want everyone who can work at home to do it so our building is only about half full.

Not doing much besides working these days. I should really be taking advantage of the downtime and getting more practice time in, but I'm blowing too much of it on Talkbass. :D

We're not rehearsing yet although our singer/BL has at least joked about setting up their porch and rehearsing outside. They live in Monroeville and it's a pretty wooded and spread out area, so that might actually be doable - if she was really serious. It hasn't come up in a few days, though, and I'm still not sure I want to start yet. Since I'm still going to the office everyday I'm more at risk for picking it up than most people and I don't want to risk spreading it to my family and others if I'm carrying it. So I prefer to err on the side of caution for now.

But I'm dying to get back into it when the time is right. Actually, we still have a June gig and an August gig that haven't been canceled yet. So who knows?

Now...in keeping with Thesis #4, a gratuitous image of a G&L bass on a stand, and two drummers, one of whom could use some work on posture...

Two drummers?
As in two drummers playing 2 separate drum sets at the same time?
No good can come from this...

Two things:

1. IMHO, recent issues regarding QC, order accuracy, and personnel at G&L are ABSOLUTELY on topic in this thread.

2. Here are a couple gratuitous shot of my kiloton, which took 12 months and a lot of fixing to finally get into my hands.

I love that bass, but whenever I see your pedalboard, I'm thinking it was you who designed the straight line feature for Etch A Sketch.

Yup. You can see the two sets in the photo. One-off show, sorry to say. It's ungodly good fun playing between two very good drummers who are really listening to each other. Ham in the sandwich.

Yup, that's what keeps my interface the happiest.

On the other hand, the threshold is set such that it doesn't light up much. More like a slow irregular blink.

@bonin in the boneyard Is spalted maple an "option order" choice, or did you have to go full CS for that?
In 2017 I was able to get the spalted top as an option order on an SB-2.

I went back in 2018 to get a kiloton to very similar specs (changing only the color and the fretboard) and was told I had to go through the then-new Custom Shop to get a special top.
