Hey folks, having a problem with the treble control with my L2500. I had a problem several months ago where the bass died after replacing the battery and the luthier at guitar center stated that there was was extra solder on the pre amp that caused the bass not to work. They cleaned up the solder and also stated that they replaced the treble pot. Playing the bass last week, I discovered that the pot isn't working and I have no control over the treble. The bass pot works fine. This isn't effecting my tone but I want the bass to work perfectly.
Has anyone had a similar problem or have any suggestions on how to fix this?

My bet is that the .047 marked cap is not connected to the center lug.
this should be the similar even if it's a tribute.
the cap could also be bad, but likely a solder joint failed.

I have taken a look at the diagram and will be opening her up after work. I'm hoping for a quick fix! Thanks for the reply and I'll try to update tonight but probably tomorrow.

Did the treble pot work correctly after the repair?
You said several months and assumed you might have tried it before last week.

GAS recently wore me down and I acquired my first (more to come I'm sure) G&L. It's a 1994 SB-2. I love this bass! The P pup alone is huge and gritty and powerful. With the jazz pup there are tons of tonal possibilities. Yup...love!

We'll never know if the solder was there, before replacing the battery, will we? It worked just fine, before replacing the battery? Did you ask why they needed to replace the treble pot?

I thought it did but.... And I didn't get a chance to look at it last night. Tonight, we are meeting our new adoptive puppy and won't look at. I'll be giving puppy snuggles!!!! I'll update when I get a chance to take a look at it.
No, I didn't ask about the pot and was just happy to get it back. They, GC, had it for weeks and I didn't ask enough questions. I think my first problem was I took it to GC!!!!!
Howdy? Not sure if this will help but one time I changed the battery in my Stingray5 before a gig thinking I was avoiding an issue...NOT! The bass kept cutting out randomly during the set! So I brought it to the shop and It turned out to be a little corrosion build-up on the battery contacts in the bass. The tech cleaned it of with a regular graphite pencil, in seconds good as new. Something to check out... Good luck
So, I opened up my bass and found everything soldered in but as I was looking around, the battery wire became disconnected from the jack. I soldered it back in place and now the bass doesn't work at all.....
and when GC put the back cavity back on, they used 3 different type of screws.... So I will do some homework and find a decent and REAL luthier to fix my bass. I will NEVER take any of my equipment to GC ever again!!!!!!! Lesson learned!!! but I'm sad that my G&L will be out of service for a while!

I didn't know Guitar Centers had "luthiers."

I've had it happen that my solder job wasn't good and so the electricity didn't flow. And I've heard that some basses with pre-amps do not make any sound without battery power.
If you have a continuity tester, maybe check that solder job. If not, maybe just reheat it until the solder flows again...
Just a wild guess, not knowing anything about your experience with a soldering iron, etc., just trying to help, hating to see a bass brother go without his axe...

Here in Denver, the have a "workshop" in the two stores close to me but luthiers is an obvious over statement...

I just received my new SB-2 from @RocketMusic and am loving it. Really nice sounding and mellowed significantly with TI flats. My old one, recently acquired to test the waters, is on sale: For Sale/Trade - G&L SB-2 USA

The new SB-2 is pictured below. I'm a little surprised how different they sound. The one for sale is Swamp Ash with Maple and has more low end and more bite, has a great slap sound. The new one is Alder with Rosewood and the sound is more polite. Both are surprisingly versatile with just the two volume controls. I was going to add a tone, but I'm not convinced I need it.
