I'll agree the US LB-100 I had was probably the best sounding P-style bass I've had.

Only thing I can add is about weight.
Lately I've seen new P bass weigh at about 8.5-9 lbs. I have a digital scale I take to music stores as weight is super important to me being old and from a car accident.
I find that many G&L's regardless of model are often times over 9 lbs and as much as 10.5.
If weight doesn't matter to you, I find them to be awesome instruments and just played my first gig with one yesterday.

When I got divorced, I sold nearly 50, and kept 2.
I don't ever want that many again, for a number of reasons.
Motorcycles, less than 20 I bet. Most I ever had at once was 4.
Those all went away when I got divorced too and it's only been recently I got another.

In all seriousness, other than burying my father, the worst thing I've ever gone through was a divorce.
So cool that you had a chance to own and play that many basses (and bikes)!

The SB-1 on the left had kinda a sticky neck, that didn’t come off with Dunlop 65. So out came the ultra fine sandpaper, and so this one now has a very comfy wax/oil finish on the neck. Perfect. And I’m thinking of doing it on the L-1000.
So far with my M2500 I have tried DR Pure Blues, then DR Hi Beams. Both sounded great, but I think the Pure Blues were a better fit. Next I think I will try DR Sunbeams.
Which brings me to my question, anyone know where to buy DR singles? I have a 4 string Sunbeams set and just want to buy a 125 B string

Gun oil?
I've stripped (ok sanded) all my G&L necks and redone them with gun oil. I've used the wax with it too, but gun oil alone gets it right where I want it. Super slippery. Just never been a fan of poly necks.
The pure blues sit well on my L2500.
Next favorite is EB Cobalt flats, which coincidentally are a great fit on my Warwick Dolphin Pro 1 V.
For those of you who wired your MFD Humbuckers for a single coil mode, did you go with inner or outer coils? Thanks!

Inner coils for me on my L2500. Very happy with that choice. I think outer is more common, though.
gunstock oil works great. As do some others. I happen to use readily available Howard’s Feed and Wax.
