Hmmm. I don't think they do much to their rosewood boards? I'll lightly mineral oil mine from to time to time (Minnesota, super dry in the winter).

I bought a Tribute JB2 and did some research on replacing the pickups before it arrived. Sadly it arrived damaged and I ended up returning it and finding my US Kiloton, so it worked out OK. Yes it has two neck sized pickups. Call Nordstrand, they will explain how to order a bridge wired and neck wired pickup of the same size on their site. They were so helpful that even though I didn't end up keeping the JB2, I ended up buying a P-Bass pickup from them for another project.Got a little project started courtesy of the G&L online store ....

And then today I saw that this sonic blue JB2 body was added to the store, so I went ahead and got it as as well. I also bought the appropriate G&L bridge ....

So it'll be a sonic blue JB2 with rosewood board and block inlays.... and for a dirt cheap price !!!
I'm still debating what pickups to go with. I can't tell, but I "think" the JB2 tribute series bodies may have 2 Jazz pickup routes that are the same size. I'll have to measure when it arrives. Might go with something like Nordstrand Jazz Bars. Not sure. I could also rout it for soapbars easily enough ....
Anyway .... Should be a fun project. Oh, and I'll have to make a control cavity cover for it I guess...

Getting ready to start the refin on my SB-2. Rigged up an engine stand to hold the body for paint. Let's me spin it freely anyway.
My M2500 is totally quiet, at least at home which is the only place I have played it (thanks covid)
Mine has also been totally quiet, both at home and at multiple rehearsal places and venues.

Just happy it's now also quiet.
But not the same pickups. In the early days of the MJ basses there was an issue that the pole pieces in the pickups weren't properly grounded via a design problem. I think a kluge was developed, but either way, I think the MFD humbuckers in the M-2xxx series are very quiet pickups.
Interesting hadn't considered this. Always blamed how hot the MFDs were. I briefly had a SB2 tribby and couldn't find the love for that either at the time. Found the L-1000 sound hit it's sweet spot when I filtered some of the low end frequency out along with the TI flats.Tightened it right up.
I replaced the pickups in my Tribute JB-2 with same-sized Bartolini Classic pickups. Very nice fit and much better than stock. I recently added a second 0.047 microF capacitor to the tone control to warm things up a bit. Very bright with the standard circuit.

Does anyone have the positions of the G&L L-2000 pickups, perhaps in distance from the bridge saddles? I'm trying to place pickups in a custom build at the right locations! Thanks.

From the inside face of the nut (more reliable than from the saddles as these vary with stings) to the centreline of the pickup (midway between the poles)
