No, there is a wiring issue. Check the battery, it's likely dead. The shop misconfigured the circuit .
If it does not even work passive, the shop made an error and they should correct it .

So earlier this week I picked up some killer wavy flame redwood.
I'm thinking of building a G&L 5 string mashup.
I have an L2500 MFD that needs to be rewound.
Split the pickup into 2 x single coils.
Take a standard 5 string MFD and place it at the bridge, a single coil in the center and one at the neck.
A 4 + 1 headstock Sickle shape .
Matching veneer headstock.
Ebony board no markers

L2500 wiring ALL PASSIVE
3 holes
Neck volume, middle volume, (concentric stack) bridge volume, treble cut, (concentric stack) bass cut
Parallel, OMG with cap switch .

Fender, Sandberg, and may others slot the shaft and press fit the clover into the space. I've must have played over 100 basses and never seen or heard of this problem before G&L. They use a pin though one side of the slotted shaft and then through the clover. Perhaps this is done for ease of assembling the tuning key.
If not they just created a problem where one never existed. I also find it amazing is that the factory repair is to glue the parts together with super glue.

Maybe there is a design issue with the tuners, but I think my JB-5's tuner was damaged because the bass was stored in the wrong case. I doubt it was like this from the factory, so I suspect the first owner may have swapped G&L cases between a couple of basses, perhaps inadvertently. Specifically, the JB-5 with its 4+1 headstock was in a shorter case designed for the 3+2 headstock basses like my M-2500. As a result, the D string clover could bump into the end of the case, which probably damaged it.

My seller (not the original owner) pointed out the issue with the case, and it made no sense to me until I got home, and discovered it was exactly like my M-2500's case. It's about an inch shorter than my JB's case--which of course fits it perfectly. The size difference had never registered with me, but there it was.

I've had four other G&L basses, all built between 2006 and 2013, and I've never encountered this issue with their tuners.

Guys I have an L2000 question.
Both my L2000 basses are from the mid 90s with v1 preamps from what I can see.
Rolling the treble off never quite gets to the P Bass with tone rolled off thump - is there a known mod that can give me this, but still maintain the same tone when the treble is opened fully?
Also, if I dial the treble pot down it doesn't really seem to do much until 50%. It then gradually rolls off the treble until it gets to about 10%, then it kinda gets brighter and the tone becomes more mid focussed. Is this a normal thing? Both my L2000 basses do it.

It's a .047 in the stock treble circuit. I'd go with .1uF
Here's a discussion of options.
What Value 'Capacitor' to get a Darker Tone ??

I checked there and all over. They have lefties... On other sites they were 13 screw, older models I guess?... this one is 2020. Could be the shut down? Could I order from Custom shop? I PM'd Greg I've come to know he's "the man!"

FYI... I'm fairly new to working on my own basses although I've been playing for over thirty years. I'm beefing up a tool kit to start, and eventually build one for myself. Also new to G&L's and still looking for that number. lol

I appreciate all help and hints for you all.

They don't have them instock, they make them to order. If it's a USA made bass.
Pickguard for Made-in-Fullerton (USA) Instruments - Manufactured Early 2016 and Later

I ordered this way myself last year. Be sure of what you want before ordering. I didn't really receive any feedback other than an automated email that my order was received. Several weeks later I received my pickguard.
