Try ordering something custom and see if this is your only gripe.
They make great basses when sorted out. And I'm not talking about set up.
Problem is they don't come out of the box this way as often as other brands IME.

Problem is they don't come out of the box this way as often as other brands IME.
They contacted me by email probably a day after this, asked for my address, and sent me 3 screws and springs without accepting payment. I received them today. They paid $4+ on postage to help out someone who bought a second hand Tribute. That's standing by their product for sure.
EDIT: This post was made without looking at the last few, it was not meant to refute that there are sometimes issues. I've had slow service once before myself.

I did get her back from the shop yesterday and had practice last night without issues. The shop was not able to pinpoint the problem but it's working. I have noticed that the treble control does not work when in passive mode. Is this normal? I play through an EQ pedal and able to modify my tone with that and I don't hear any difference in my tone without the treble control in our songs.
@Beersurgeon If I were still in Denver, I’d offer to help sort it out, but unfortunately I left that beautiful place years ago.
Thanks for the offer! I think at this point, I'm just going to call it good and not have treble control. I just plugged it in to see if the pot works when the pre-amp and I have no treble at all.... Looks like it's going back to the shop..

Posted a few days ago asking about strings with tamer top end than my usual Fat Beams. Thanks for all the responses. I'm a DR fanboy, and dig round core strings so I had made up my mind to give both Sunbeams and maybe Pure Blues a crack.
But my local had neither :-\
So I tried a set of D'Addario NYXLs. I gotta say, they really do sound like I want them to, and I can only imagine the top end will take a little more over time. I'm quite impressed.
I think over time I will still try Sunbeams, I think they will pair well with the big scooped HB sound of the L2000, and Fat Beams still sound perfect on my PJ that is a little bass\muscle shy compared to my the L2000.
With strings kinda sorted the only thing I'm now considering is how a G&L SB2 pickup set would sound compared to the EMG GZR set it's currently sporting. The only thing holding me back is the routing needed for the MFD J.....hmmmmm.....

I also love the DR roundcore strings, and have had good experiences with them on G&L basses and my lone, remaining Fender. The Pure Blues and Sunbeams are great, and I agree Sunbeams are good for scooped sounding basses because I've loved them on my Fender J. They sound nice and fat, but not muddy. The Pure Blues have been excellent on my G&L JB-5. (I also love the guitar Pure Blues on my G&L Comanche.) On my SB-2, Fat Beams have been my favorite DR strings, but it now has either Fodera or Sadowsky strings, which are also excellent. Wish I could remember which.
But back to the M-2500. It came wearing D'Addarios like all G&L basses, but the shop packed the case with three sets of Dean Markley strings. Best case candy ever. I first tried the Helix, which were excellent, but those have been discontinued. It now has SR2000, and they are fantastic, perhaps even better than the Helix. Great feel, clarity, and excellent balance without sounding bland. They have some "life" in the tone, and worked well for a recording project. Highly recommended, and I bet they'd be great on other MFD-loaded basses.

Thx for that info. In that blurb above they list the gauge of the G & B strings in the set, but not the other 3. Do those increase in gauge as you move up from light to medium, etc?
