If it plays good and ticks your boxes, I say go for it! You might be able to get a cover from G&L, but my guess is you'd have to have one made or scour eBay for a used one. As for the electronics, hard to say without more details to diagnose. Could be as simple as a switch or battery, could be more complex. A switch will run you about $10 and, worst case, a full wiring assembly will run you about $120 from G&L. Plus whatever it would cost to install, if you don't do that yourself. Maybe something to consider when negotiating price.
My guess would primarily be the price. It's a pretty generic L-2000 from that time frame, really no upgrades, and priced on the high end of the used spectrum, IMO. And that picture of the ding probably makes it look worse than it really is, but again, high price with some damage... also, maybe I missed it, but Hipshot tuners don't appear to be original, and the A tuner looks a little cockeyed to me. Knock a few hundred off and it will get more attention.
There was a stretch of time (maybe around 2002-2015, not sure exact dates) where the default neck profile on the L-2000 was the #7 profile, which was listed as 1.75" width and 12" radius. (The L-1500 also had a #7 as standard, but switched to #8 around 2010, if memory serves correct.)
The bass in question is a 2012, which would make sense for it having this profile as a default.
The 1-11/16" was more of an 80s-90s width.

I have that neck on my L2000 and like it. It's supposed to be something like what 58 p bass had.
It's a different animal for sure. I also an SB-2 with the 1.5" nut width and for me I'd rather play the L2K when I'm playing towards the nut. It's just easier for me.
That's damn nice. G&L put a binding like that on my Kiloton even though I didn't order it. But they also deleted the arm contour. I might have kept it if it had the arm contour.

I have a '99 SB-2 with the 1.5" nut and my three other basses are also 1.5" nut width. So, I'm wanting to try the 1 3/4" with teh 12" radius for something different. However, I don't want to get a bass that clearly is not desirable and won't be able to sell it down the road, if I choose to do so. I have a five string Ibanez with a flatter radius neck and I actually feel quite comfortable on it, sometimes preferring that feel to the thinner, narrower necks.
It is a nice bass. But it is priced a little steep in my (and others') opinion. Anytime you get eBay or Reverb or similar listing sites involved, the sites take their cut, and I think a lot of people try and make up for that (and then some) in their pricing.
And there are fewer of us that prefer the 1.75" neck than the thinner ones, and the 1.5" nut was a common upgrade when ordering. So that might weed a few potential buyers out.
Not sure what your local market is like, but mine (SoCal) tends to have pretty regular flow of US-made L-2000s in the $700-$800 range as realistic sellers on Craigslist. Ones that are cheaper go quickly and ones that are more tend to hang out a while.
If the sunburst finish/rosewood and #7 are just what you're looking for, I'm not sure how often you'll see that exact combo, so it might be worth the price to you. If you're a little more open on the aesthetics, you may be able to find some better deals if you're patient.
Up next for me.....an M2000! Have my eye on this one at the moment.
I would recommend that you check out the Guitar Center Used section, they have a fresh inventory of USED G&L Basses fairly often, and some killer deals! The nice thing is, if you don't like it, you can return it within 45 days! A great way to "try before you buy"...or at least, try before you commit.
Can't speak to the exact years, but during the 90's the default neck for the L-2000, L-1500, and SB-1 was the #7 (1 3/4"). The ASAT and SB-2 were #6. I don't think any models came default with a #5 neck, but it was an option. Not sure exactly when the #8 neck became available, but #8 was the default neck for the JB-2, which debuted in 2001. It's so confusing! Cheers.
