G&L Club Part 7

I have been getting acquainted with mine. I owned several L-1000s, and this is just a compact version of that wonderful bass. So it's just what you expect tonewise if you're familiar with the Wunkay. build quality is top notch.

I'm seriously considering one of these... I gotta ask, is there any neck dive?
Just curious, because the Jaguar SS I had was so bad I traded it off

mine weighs around 9 lbs. there is a small amount of neck dive, yes. it's manageable for me. Most SS basses I have owned have had some neck dive. The balance point shifts, that's the way I have reconciled with that. A good cotton strap is the remedy for me.

Question for those that play an SB2-T. What setting on the VVT are you liking the most?

I've found two that sound good to me.
Setting 1: Neck 80%, Bridge 20%, Tone 20%
Setting 2: Neck 100%, Bridge 100%, Tone 20%
I have pan/volume/tone but I run tone 80% or so. Most used pan for me is evenly split or full neck for that tick p bass sound. Sometimes I do run biased towards the bridge too but mostly the other two.

Noticed some of you all were looking for an El Toro? I just sold a 1984 Red translucent today. Where were you all? I got tempted with a nice 1991 L2000 Cherry Burst/Honey Burst? I have had 4 El Toro's if remember, but just couldn't seem to bond with them?

I'm in SoCal and house poor, so I'm out on unplanned purchases. Plus I didn't see it.

That L2k looks mighty sweet, though. Congrats.

I bought my L-2500 about 4 1/2 years ago and had become interested in buying one a few years before that based on what I had been reading herd on TB. Before that I didn't really know of them. I only started playing out with others in basement jams about four years ago and a gigging band last summer (I'm a late bloomer) but no one I've played with so far knew of G&L before I showed up eith my L-2500.

One guitar player in the first group I played with even asked if I had a pro level instrument. He didn't believe me at first when I told him the "L" in G&L was Leo Fender.

Beautiful!

I did play in one band where one guitar player wasn't familiar with G&L at the time, and the second was only vaguely aware. The first one has an ASAT now, and the second almost bought a SB-1 when he switched to bass at one point, but it had some neck bow and he opted for a Fender J instead.
