Person,by name of Memo,in the parts department,is real helpful,and knowledgeable concerning G&L guitars. Asked him about some strap buttons,and the COA,on my 91 L2000 Commemorative bass,and he mailed them out to me. Great customer service.

Hipshot made ultralight keys for G&L for a few years, with a tapered aluminum post like usual. No idea if Hipshot can still offer them custom.

I've seen on the inter web that Fullerton Deluxe instruments are not PLEK'd is that true? Considering my first G&L purchase, but it looks like QC is "interesting" right now.

In regards to QC being interesting, the main QC issue for US instruments has been getting option and custom orders wrong. While that should not happen (customer should get what they order), it also is not as bad as producing an unplayable instrument. Only pointing this out since it is only an issue if you are considering a special order. Not an issue if you purchase from dealer stock.

Yeah, that's where I read it. It seemed reliable, but I'm new to the G&L thing. Technically, I bought an L2500 a few years ago but did not bond at all and it was very quickly flipped. Flipped so quickly that I'm not even going to count that purchase. I thought it was too aggressive and bright for what I wanted.

I thought the same about my L1505 when I first got it & almost reposted it back onto the TB classifieds. I ended up toning down the brightness with a set of flats, and after spending some time with it, learning how to manage its tone control; namely not having the volume pot dimed and also the fact that the tone pots are all subtractive. If you try to treat it like a “traditional” active bass, you’re apt to be disappointed.

Interesting, I had not heard that. I have a Fullerton Deluxe JB in stock, and I just checked it's spec sheet. No mention of Plek on that.

G&L is closed until Jan 3rd, so there's nobody to ask this week to confirm or deny...

Thanks! That was referenced above, and I assume Craig knows what he's talking about. He was certainly right about the spec sheet not mentioning it. I have no specific info to confirm or deny it myself.

The lb got a set of chromes,and the wunkay got a set of DR pure blues. Big difference.
And my jb2 has a supersoft set of Labella low tension flatwounds which sound fantastic on it.

I think that the MFDs and DR Pure Blues are a match made in heaven. I was playing my L-2500 last night and thinking exactly that.
