Man, I was probably browsing that at the same time. I was looking for a Shell Pink LB-100, then started looking for SB-1's instead. When I saw that, I almost pulled the trigger on it. If the Canadian dollar wasn't so weak and I didn't have to pay import duty, I probably would have.

It's been a while since I had an L2K around but when I have one I mostly play with neck pickup only - I don't like the sound/feel of "both pickups at full" and am the same way with a jazz bass (JB2 for me). I pretty much always at least favor the neck pickup (dial back the bridge until the sound "opens up"). So far I'm liking this "Climax1K" with both pickups in series both up full -- it adds more definition and some bite from the bridge pickup (I have the tone rolled mostly off). It's very new to me so I'm just starting to learn its quirks. I still lean on the neck pickup and to be honest I could have yanked the bridge pickup and been satisfied with the project. But I have this nagging feeling that at some point I'm going to be in a position where I want a leaner tone for one reason or another and will benefit from the bridge pickup.
I am liking the neck pickup in series (my favorite tone) combined with the bridge pickup in parallel - more of a P-J type of combo. Overall it does convince me that if I ever get an L2K again I'm going to modify it for either separate volumes or a blend because the ability to blend the pickups is important to me (I tried a Trib M2K once and missed what a passive tone control brings too much to really dig it).
That pickup arrangement makes me think of the Reverend Brad Houser 5.

Hey all. Im having a very annoying problem and I want to know if anyone has experienced this:
I noticed the D peg on my JB-5 was bent. The top clover is now very loose in the rivet that holds it to the peg. Now, I got this bass brand new built from G&L. It came mint from Rocket Music. Seeing as how the pandemic knocked out all my gigs, I took the bass out to one practice and that was basically it. I was dumbfounded on how this could have happened. I didn’t drop, knock or kick it around in any way. I started to investigate further and I noticed the D tuning peg literally smashes against the edge of the case. And there’s no wiggle room because the body of the J Bass sits flush with the other end. Depending on where the peg is positioned when in tune, it could have massive pressure on it in the case, and I figured out the only way to relive it is to detune it into a position where it’s not being bent. I ordered a new peg through G&L but, then what? Have the case bend the new peg? Do I have to detune that peg every time I put it away? Why should I buy a new case that might fit the headstock better, when it came with what is supposed to be a very nice one? Sorry, Im kind of frustrated. Here’s some pics of the damage.

Odd... is it possible to mod the current case to make room for the tuner?

Thats probably what I’ll have to do. I’m afraid of the one time I forget to detune it though haha
Over the years I’ve had this happen a few times, and have swapped out at least one D. In my case I’m pretty sure it happened in carrying or shipping. At this point I just get out the channel locks and a rag and fix it myself. It’s annoying, but the tuner still works ok, so I live with it - as long it doesn’t rattle.
