Congrats, but you might only get a probationary membership. It don't exist 'til ya post pics! ;->Took the plunge. I have a Jet Black Frost Kiloton 5 with an ebony board on order from everyone’s friends at Bass Central. Expected in about a month, so I figured I’d apply for membership in this exclusive club now![]()
@MG Wolf You hanging onto that blackburst kilo? Could we see a pic anyway?

No apologies needed. I think those who install a tone knob on an SB-2 are looking for more tonal options than the volume controls provide. I’m a big fan of the two volumes, myself, but understand the wish to explore more tonal options from this great bass.So I spent some quality time with an SB-2 today and I totally get it now.
I wondered how they could make a bass with no tone control but after playing it I realized that you can get loads of tone control by adjusting the volume of the 2 pups. And you lose very little real volume unless you put the below 1/4. Both at 1/2 gives a nice fat tone. What wizardry is this?
(apologies to the SB-2 owners who already know this)
I was going to try to get G&L to make me one with tone control (they'll do that for a dealer if they get minimum 3 orders) but now I don't think I'll do that - seems redundant.
So back to the original quandary - SB-2 or LB-100 (fretlesses).
Yea I gotta work on my existence
My SB-2T has the factory installed tone control. My previous SB-2 did not. I don't think you get enough out of it to be worth the expense or work. It is a "nice to have", but not a big deal.No apologies needed. I think those who install a tone knob on an SB-2 are looking for more tonal options than the volume controls provide. I would happily do without the tone control on mine, but I do like having it. It's nice to simply dial back some highs without affecting volume or blend. Just a little more control but if I found an SB-2 without it that checked all the other boxes, I wouldn't hesitate. My SB-2T has the factory installed tone control. My previous SB-2 did not. how much for the duckies?
My Kiloton went back to G&L with a neck that two different techs tried and failed to do a setup on after I gave up trying myself. Turns out G&L agreed something was up and replaced the neck. Got an email from Memo today saying its ready to ship. It wasn't the fastest process but it was covered under warranty and as long as it does arrive as a box of kindling I'm pretty darn happy.
This came up for sale in Portland a few days ago, figured I'd toss it in here and see what sticks. (Not my listing.)

Just woke up to find that I too have been blessed with a Memo email. Four weeks ago, thinking that I had waited enough time for it to be reasonable for me to add my own enquiries to Greg's, I wrote to him (very politely). His reply is very nice and contains this:Memo came through for me TWICE. G&L rocks it.
"....if I can only tell you how weird the neck replacement has been on your bass you would either laugh or write us off...."
