G&L Club Part 7

My Kiloton went back to G&L with a neck that two different techs tried and failed to do a setup on after I gave up trying myself. Turns out G&L agreed something was up and replaced the neck. Got an email from Memo today saying its ready to ship. It wasn't the fastest process but it was covered under warranty and as long as it doesn't arrive as a box of kindling I'm pretty darn happy.
what was the issue with the neck? Truss rod would not turn?

Newest addition to my G&L family! Natural ash body US made L-2000, quartersawn neck, rosewood fretboard, 1.5" nut. Original owner said he bought it new in 2006 and hardly played it. It's in mint condition, not a mark anywhere. Shown lounging with my 2016 L-1500

Congrats, that’s a gorgeous bass! I think natural ash bodies look better with a dark fretboard.

Those are both really nice G&L's! I gotta ask... can you get the L-1500 tone out of your L-2000 playing only the bridge pickup?

Not to ignore the cherryburst (which I love, I have a cherryburst L-2500 myself), but the grain on that natural ash body is fantastic!

It was twisted as far as I was able to tell. Memo did not say specifically why they chose to replace it.
Yikes. I emailed him yesterday and he replied today and said they would email a label and I would ship the entire bass so they can measure the pocket and replace the neck. I was doing a wait and see cause my truss rod was maxed tightness and I can’t reduce relief. I am still on the fence about sending it in right now because even though I can’t tighten it more, it’s right where it needs to be.

But I also loosened it and I only get a range of about 180 degrees turn radius. Basically a half turn on the rod is all I am getting. Not sure if that is normal for a G&L dual action rod.

so how was the new neck? Is it pleked? Not sure if you got it back yet. But look forward to your thoughts on the replacement.

I am 20+ lover of my Bo1 black crinkle 1-5/8" neck L2k so i scored a great price on an 40th gold sparkle 6bolt.
The truss rod seems to be spinning.
I bought used and I know about ski jumps with the microtilt people slam down but now this didnt think 6 bolts were an issue.
Bought used.
G&L said no luck.
Any advice?
Used to use Peavey t-45 necks but they cost to much now had used one on an SB-2 blue bowling ball
i know like 6 years ago they sold off some necks do i call back and ask for roasted maple neck replacement factory seconds?

Did you know about the truss rod issue when you bought the bass?
