I guess I'm at the bottom end of G&L's long list of people they need to satisfy. Somebody has to be.

Well at least you're in good company! G&Ls best customers had to send their basses back for order screw ups, at least two friends were for "missing" the quarter sawn option. That's not my SB-1, that's an old advert for an LB-100 which I shared just so people could enjoy the photos of a pink p-bass. Mine was an option order placed by Rocket on my behalf, so no advert. When building it G&L failed to notice that the agreed specs included a quartersawn neck. It went back to get the correct neck fitted. I guess I'm at the bottom end of G&L's long list of people they need to satisfy. Somebody has to be.
Yep, based on the current state of business there, you're in the same boat as the rest of us.You are not alone nor at the bottom...

But on the bright side, there's also been lots of instances where the customer got a quartersawn neck from G&L without ordering or paying for one.![]()
Lol... Yes I know at least two of them, as well! It's interesting to note that I've never heard of G&L offering to compensate anyone for the gratuitous delays or mistakes... You'd think that they'd give away a Q-sawn with every purchase! But on the bright side, there's also been lots of instances where the customer got a quartersawn neck from G&L without ordering or paying for one.![]()
How do you like your new G&L?Like winning the lottery... in most cases, like being struck by lightning.
And I was one of the lucky ones who got the wrong bodyWell at least you're in good company! G&Ls best customers had to send their basses back for order screw ups, at least two friends were for "missing" the quarter sawn option.
In my case the shop knocked 10% off the order. It shouldn't have come out of their cut, since they did everything in their power to make it right. But I wasn't going to turn it down.I've never heard of G&L offering to compensate anyone for the gratuitous delays or mistakes.
How do you like your new G&L?
I love it! It's perfect... Hey... this candy bar has a Golden Ticket in it! It says I can bring one family member to the chocolate factory, and possibly win a lifetime supply of chocolate, too!
Nice. Good for you.
Kilo's are the best!Took the plunge. I have a Jet Black Frost Kiloton 5 with an ebony board on order from everyone’s friends at Bass Central. Expected in about a month, so I figured I’d apply for membership in this exclusive club now![]()
A+ ???Not all doom and gloom. I have also had a perfect order experience with G&L. My SB-2 was A+ out of the box and remains my #1 three years later.

My ill-fated order was early in the Custom Shop days, and it was a lefty with wacky options.
I don't think so. My dealer is great. And I've seen these issues across a range of reputable dealers who do a lot of business with G&L. G&L just has a weird blind spot for QC right now.Not all doom and gloom but is that by chance? Could the dealer you choose matter?
