I had a bass with a similar problem of contact between the last pot and the tip contact for the input jack. I just put a strip of insulating tape over the offending part of the input jack or maybe the pot (the tip connector could still move enough to function) and it's been just fine ever since. [N.B. I'm not a purist, physicist rather than engineer, and am not mortally offended by the presence of electrical tape in a control cavity.]

This isn't a touch issue, it's a physical fit. The new pot is simply too deep and the blend pot is too wide. And I have no qualms about electrical tape...it's my go to along with crazy glue and staples!

Interesting. The SB-2 is one bass where the sweet spot is with the bridge pickup backed off to 70-80% and IMHO all up is not a great place to be tonally.

Sent them an email (they aren't taking phone calls) so we'll see what they say. The control cavity is quite tight down by the input jack so may have to get the calipers out. May have to actually buy some calipers.

Just an FYI, but Ed at Mad Hatter couldn't have been nicer. He said just send back the kit for a full credit. Great service and friendly emails. I would definitely recommend but, as the credo goes, measure twice and cut once.

It sounds like it will work out, but I was going to say “you’ll adjust” to v t b. I think a blend knob is a great idea for an SB-2 btw. Like jmlee, I never run that bass at 100% volume. Even the thought is scary! But hey, I’m the guy who wanted to replace my L2K pickup selector switch with a blend knob ...never did though.

I did a stacked volume/tone with a balance and really like that config. I just don’t like two volume basses. I can set my balance by feel and then use the volume. Much easier on stage IMO.

I'm pretty much with you on that. I had a Zon with stacked volume that had a little marker on it so it was pretty easy to tell what the blend was. But in general I haven't liked the separate controls very much. I hadn't thought about stacking tone and volume but since I have three holes, figured I'd put them to good use.

To me, that's THE classic G&L bass (I just happen to have that in a USA version). Maple fretboard, natural ash body L2K.

While it's a mere Student rather than an esteemed Leo, my SB-1 loudly agrees, evident by it changing pickguards like socks (had a black one and a cream one on it before, and it's far too likely I'll end up paying whatever it'd cost to have an SB-1 with RMC)

Got my first G&L.

Came today, straight out of Japan. L2000 Tribute (MIJ), 90s (still the old body shape that I prefer).
This thing is crazy packed with tones. I wanted an all natural look, I love it.
It's under 9 lbs too, so heck yea. Massive, massive mojo. I guess I completed my Leo trifecta now.
