Hi Phindog.

I don’t notice a volume drop with both pickups on.

Adding a knob, depending on how you do it, will allow you to keep an even volume while you fiddle with the tonal quality of both pickups.

Without the additional knob, fiddling with the tonal quality of the pickups can give you a volume drop.

Nope, didn’t notice any signal loss. It’s still ridiculously hot. Here’s the diagram I used. I don’t believe that I put the 1 megohm resistors across the two volume pots, but they were 500 kohm each.

Surprising I would have thought with the lack of gigs due to the pandemic, most musicians would have curtailed their GAS quite a bit.

I haven't bought much from Sweetwater over the years as they have not been open to discounting in the past. But, I have to say they negotiated a really good deal with me on the custom option bass , and a set of high end speaker stands. If they are willing to be open to discounting going forward, I will be buying a lot more from them.

That's my understanding of it, and my neighbor and I fit this pattern. He's been playing more guitar while staying at home, and his only guitar wasn't very good, so he bought a new Telecaster early this year.

Meanwhile, I'm not in a band anymore and haven't even been playing casual jam sessions, so I've sold lots of gear already and have listed even more stuff in the past week. I'd been considering some of this before the pandemic, but I think it accelerated the process.

At least I've come to my senses about possibly selling my SB-2. That would be a huge mistake!

Ha, @/\/\3phist0 must have gotten a kick out of that. I've been drooling over his L-2500 since he got.

To be honest, I'm really a burst fan and all five of my basses are traditional looking bursts - a honeyburst, two 3TSB, a "violin burst", and my L-2500 is a cherryburst. Metal flake finishes are just about the complete opposite of what I actually buy ..... but.... If I ever do decide to do something different, a G&L metal flake would be high on the list of possibilities. They're just SO well done - and I wouldn't have a hard time convincing myself that having another G&L would be a good thing.

No, it’s just hot because of the MFD pickups. The 500k pots will bleed a bit more highs through but the nature of the 2-pickup system and the tone control keeps that in check. It sounds just great.

Mine is wired for neck pickup on top and bridge pickup below (opposite to what’s shown) but it doesn’t complicate things at all. Since I sometimes use it in SB-1 mode without the bridge pickup, this made the most sense.
