That is a sweet looking SB-2 !! Gives me major GAS.

Looks like you have a pot mod; is that a concentric stacked volume pot and a tone pot added where the bridge volume was ?

Another one from CraigB's "Floor of Basses."
I think Craig changed out the pots, and I believe there is a "how to" either here or at BABP's....
I did not pursue this mod on mine, I like it "mean."

Here's mine! Picked it up off of the bay a few weeks ago. She's in beautiful shape, and sounds wicked.

Sorry for the poor photos... my camera is acting up. This is one of the pics off of evilbay. I'm guessing the color is amber. The neck has the gun oil tint, and looks like an old, yellowed nitro finish.... it's so swanky!

I also have a '87 SB1 that keeps getting more and more mellow as the years go by. Threw some TI JF's on it, and now I can't put it down!

I'll get fresh photos up this next weekend.

I want in!!

My JB-2 Tribby was bought as a 4-sets-a-night workhorse and has already been prooven in just such a situation. The hot output had me using my amp's "active" input, and the drummer was asking me to dial back my high end with the tone knob already somewhere in the middle. It's got some pretty heady company in my little bass family (Fender J-24 and Warwick FNA Jazzman 2002 ltd.), but for what it does, it is truly an amazing instrument. Since I have already created a dedicated thread here at TB that features both of the Leo Fender designs in my arsenal, I shall simply link to it for those who wish to view it:

I got my L2500 Tribute today. This bass brings the LOWS. I love it. It has 20 flavors of LOW and 2 flavors of trebly high stuff, like a bass SHOULD have in my opinion. The sounds are so versatile and you can get that crushingly powerful low end with substance that I have been searching for with a little tweaking. It's great. Pics in a bit!
