G&L color Poll: Help me choose!

Hi All!

I hope to be ordering a new G&L LB-100 in the not-so-distant future. I thought I had decided on the color but now I am torn.

I was thinking Ruby Red Metallic with matching headstock and tort or black pickguard. Here is a pic of an SB-2 with a white pearloid guard (my other G&L has a white pearloid guard so that's out):

But...I am very tempted by the Old School Tobacco Burst with a tort guard. I'm usually not a big burst guy but this one I like because it's subtle. I'd still get a matching headstock because that's how I roll. Here is one without the matching headstock:

So whaddya think?

The tobacco burst is more attractive to me than the red metallic. The tobacco has great natural grain to it.

most definitely old school tobacco burst for me.
For my tastes, the only thing I would do differently is go with the vintage neck tint and glossed headstock over the matching headstock.
It would give it a bit more of the old school look.

I just ordered an L2500 from Rocket Music with Old School Tobaccoburst finish and rosewood board - so that's what I endorse. Have you considered Empress wood for body - they are offering that for a limited time. A bunch of us are putting in orders w Greg at Rocket for that - nice n light weight for us old folks

Yeah, if I were getting on with no pickguard I would probably go with the Ruby Red. Like this...

That's actually what got me moving more seriously. The light weight thing is very tempting. Not sure I need it though. Right now I play a 10.5lb G&L JB and while it's heavy, it doesn't kill me. So anything in the 9lb range which an LB-100 should be is fine. Plus I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger. Would love to to how yours comes out. Unfortunately they will be out of Empress by then.

The tobacco burst is my favorite. What body wood are you going with? I like the look of ash bodies with translucent finishes.

The LB-100 is on my short list. I've really liked all the sound clips I've heard, now if I can just find one to play in-person.

Both beautiful. Can't go wrong with either. Just for reference, here's how my Candy Cola Am. Std. Jazz looks with a tort guard. Not the exact color, but similar.

Lately, I weighed one it was 9.3 lbs, which is quite common for a non-Empress body.

Oh my word.

I too wanted an LB100. My color journey was painful. I was all over the map. It went like this:

Copper / Tort / Rosewood
LPB / White / Rosewood
White / Tort / Rosewood
Red / Pearl / Rosewood
Fullerton / Tort / Rosewood
Tobacco / Tort / Rosewood
Black / Tort / Maple
Red / Black / Maple
Blueburst / Black / Maple

When it came down to placing the order I ended up going with
Copper / Tort / Rosewood.

Back to my original choice. Of course I've 2nd guessed it 3 times since placing the order. :-O

Margarita Metallic!!! .. If not that, Yellow Fever takes a very close second choice for me.. Love the Green or Yellow/maple/black 'guard combo

I've just E mailed Greg and (am trying to get pricing) on a Clear Forest Green, tort pg and rosewood fb.

So, ultimately, the green with tort would be my final answer!

What do I win???

Whatever you choose, I don't see how you can go wrong.

I've played for 35-ish years now. I have found that--for me personally--as much as I love all kinds of finishes from metallics to pastels to far out metal flake and sparkle jobs, I tend to tire of them.

Call me Mayor of Dullsville, but the instruments I tend to bond with most are natural, burst, black and creamy off white.
