When it came down to placing the order I ended up going with
Copper / Tort / Rosewood.

Back to my original choice. Of course I've 2nd guessed it 3 times since placing the order. :-O
I'd like to see a pic of that. Sounds very nice!
I went to the G&L site, and didn't see much choice in finishes for that model, but I do like the tobacco burst better than red.
I'd like to see it without a pick guard; I think it would look so much better and show off the nice looking wood grain.
Respectfully, I couldn't disagree more! Personally, I can't stand the "Jaco Look" of a burst without a pickguard (preferably tort!). ;) Actually IMO, I think all Jazz and P-style basses look better with a pickguard. It just seems to add the finishing touch, and they look like something is missing without one. (Yeah, I know - something IS missing. The pickguard!)

But that's why there are so many flavors of ice cream. We all have our unique preferences.

Between the two pictured basses, Red Metallic by a long shot. Burst with tort guards have been done to death, and tort looks like a someone puked allover your bass.
