They're probably making them so fast b/c in reality, they're just L2000's without the bridge pickup and two less switches. That was probably a pretty easy mod to the CNC program. The L1005 would need a pickup location change. But, they could probably do a cut and paste from the L1000 program once they modify it. Of course, I could be talkin' out my backside. YMMV.

Today G&L shipped me the Emerald Green L-1000, the lefty L-1005 Vintage Natural (for bhunt1), and the Lake Placid Blue L-1000 (for Olivier M.). I should see these here in Virginia in about a week!

I'm very curious to hear from everyone about the range of weights. I requested as light as possible but i know G&L won't guarantee this (at least hasn't in the past).

Just FYI - the natural one on the left came in at 8.6 lbs, and the blonde one came in at 8.7 lbs.

Hopefully that is inline with or (at least close enough to) people's weight expectations. The typical L series basses that I see on the available list are 9.3-9.7-ish lbs. When I see one under 9 lbs, those are the ones that I'm tempted to jump on if I want to have something "light"...

That's perfect for me. The CAR one I have from the BABP run is 8lbs-9 7/8oz so these are right in line with that one which I've been very happy with.

The MFD pickups aren't light. Having one not two, not to mention one less 9V battery will help on these models.

Wow, those look great! I think the weights are excellent, right where they should be IMO.
