G&L weights can vary a lot depending on the particular pieces of wood used in a given bass. 10+ pounds for a 4-string is not that unusual, and you'll also see plenty in the 8-9 lb range. I like to see more of the 8-9 lb basses than the 10+ pounders, so I almost always request them lightweight.

I think G&L just chooses the body wood a little more carefully when they see that request. They don't guarantee a particular weight range, and they don't do anything extraordinary other than picking a less dense piece of wood from the pile.

I have an LB100 in that color with a mint guard and maple neck. Never saw that binding before.

Wood binding is usually done on figured top (flame maple), not on solid color. The result on this bass is stunning!

I believe that binding is just taping off, applying the finish color and then removing the tape. Correct me if I'm mistaken. It does look nice.

By "wood binding", I rather meant "scraped binding". From what I read, the finish color is applied, then the binding is sanded or scraped back to wood. Follow the clear laquer and buffing.

With that particular cream color, it looks really great.

This would be useful. There aren't that many SB-2 clips on the Internet anyway.
